When and where are the MAC media days? They should be coming up very soon, certainly before Fall practice begins. Some other conferences' media days are already underway, e.g. Big 10, Big East, and MWC.

Sometimes important announcements are made at these meetings
Monday, July 25 and Tuesday, July 26 in Detroit.

We tried to get the Philly Media to come to campus for Temple's "Media Day" but they won't come there because they say college football lacks the "bling-bling" Philly sports fans crave.

It will therefore take place on 20 August 2005 outside Gate 6 of Lincoln Financial Field. All the local outlets will already have their top writers and mobile uplink units there because its "Eagles Pre-season Rectal Exam Day". We'll try to get them as they come out.

No offense, but yet again proves the point...Why did the MAC need Temple?
No offense but why does kent state even need a football program?
add Ball State and Buffalo to that list!

I'm coming out of my long-time-lurker status to state that you sir, are an idiot

To the rest of the board: hello
victory engineer Wrote:No offense but why does kent state even need a football program?
Okay newbie, that was just a lame retort. I mean like KSU fans haven't heard that from Marshall fans for the last 7 years or so. At least they had a program to back it up with.

Here's the point of my comment. One of the selling points given to MAC fans from the MAC office for adding Temple was exposure to the Philly media market. The quote from a Temple fan brings that argument into question. I didn't take a shot at your team or your school. I was only pointing out again that adding Temple to an existing conference of which Kent State has been a member for 50+ years did not make sense based on the argument provided by the MAC office.
victory engineer Wrote:No offense but why does kent state even need a football program?
Because... a FULL MAC membership is for ALL-sports. Which prompts the question... why Temple for football-only associate member?? 03-razz
victory engineer Wrote:No offense but why does kent state even need a football program?
Because Kent State is a FULL MAC member which means they must play football in the conference. And since they are strong at many other sports, including men's basketball (Elite 8 a couple of years ago) and golf. 03-wink

If Temple came to the MAC for all sports, then there wouldn't be so many questions still being asked about why the MAC wanted Temple football. It's really that simple. Sorry if it offends any of the Temple fans, but you have to look at our point of view on this too. You all know that Temple got a great deal that no other conference would have done without all sports from Temple. Still don't know why the MAC did it.

Great...he's going to explain it....I missed it the first time.

The Flash Wrote:One of the selling points given to MAC fans from the MAC office for adding Temple was exposure to the Philly media market.
The MAC will, indeed, have exposure to its largest Media market in Philly. But.....as many women who don't know about football will tell you....size doesn't always matter....especially if you're dealing with a limp weenie that only perks up when it when it has chance to go after a high-priced ho.
The Flash Wrote:The quote from a Temple fan brings that argument into question.
The quote doesn't call into question whether the MAC will get exposure to the market....the quote calls into question whether ANY non-pro sport (especially one with a competing pro sport) will ever perk the interest of any of the comotose, pampered "marketers" in Pilly Pro $port$ Media. Good luck....and if the MAC marketing mogels can help us put a cattle prod up the of the likes of Bill Conlin, Howard Eskin and Company, we'll be eternally, eternally grateful. (Even if they still ignor Temple football....we'll still be grateful just to see the cattle prod inserted).

Oh, but we know what you were thinking.

Flash's Rules of Order, #32: If a conference has a member that has had membership for fifty years or more, no new members shall be permitted.

Can we digress?

What was your point again? 03-banghead

My shot was at the MAC leadership not TEMPLE!!! You guys are way too sensitive. For crying out loud. The MAC office stated that the media market was one of the reasons for this. From the quote above, Temple does NOT provide significant exposure in the Philly media market. As such, my point is that I think the MAC office messed up. PERIOD. I'm done here.

In defense of Temple here, we didn't have much until we started winning regularly(our losing streak breaking game did get national attention however). Now that is changing. I think the same thing COULD happen in Philly.
The Flash Wrote:From the quote above, Temple does NOT provide significant exposure in the Philly media market.
Excuse me, but 'twas I who made the statement quoted by thee. Thine propensity to twist words for thine own purpose is perplexing.

Thou sayeth "Temple does NOT provide significant exposure in the Philly media market".

Verily, I say unto you that thy Philly media market giveth no **** about college football and concereth itself, to wit, wit professional wenches. Alas, Temple can't....not shant....provideth for thee. Now, get thou off thine rump and pointeth thine finger at thou whost shall have thine heads up wenches crevaces.

It seems dogmatic political views and stupidity are welcome here but the language of the street is taboo.

Does anyone know why the merdia days are in Detroit, when the conference is based in Cleve? Is it beacuse the football championship is in Detroit?
No offense, but doesn't Kent win more games than Temple? I'm not sure that Temple could ever go at least 4-4 in the MAC.

Check your PM's.
Schmitty, I don't know what the mods have in mind, but I think we need to figure out some way to get you and CE-SELLS-GOATS (the poster formerly known as "Chippewa Enema") to attend the same tailgate.
