I read those comments and see a bunch of ignorance and no perspective. Someone called him self-absorbed; it was his event and these aren't just any students.

He gives back to his school and community. People may not like his personality, but the dude's a class act.

It wasn't an honorary degree. It was great and in the spirit of the event

Without going back to find it, one of the vids I watched characterized it as an honorary degree. Which is really where my interest lies here - how this is perceived outside the UC community.

As it turns out, Kelce didn’t need the degree - he just needed UC to play football, which was his “real” major.

As a side note, the New Heights podcast with Arnold Schwarzenegger is a good one. Arnold is a fan of the podcast and the Kelces.

RE: New heights live
I believe both Kelce brothers missed their graduation ceremonies because they were preparing for the NFL draft. President Pinto was just providing them with the ceremony.

And I may have had a beer or two underneath my gown for consumption during my graduation ceremony. Fortunately, whoever the mayor of Cincinnati was limited his remarks to about 20-30 minutes, unlike Diane Sawyer a few years later.

In 2022, Kelce finished his remaining credit hours to complete his degree — a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from the College of Arts and Sciences — making him an official UC graduate. We love to see it!

He graduated from uc. It's not honorary. He just didn't walk.

Some people just hate to see others having fun.

I was drinking Burger beer in preschool. OK, it was only sips, as Dad would have us get a small plastic cup and pour a little from his quart bottle as we sat and watched tv. Beer was always around - every family event and in-between. The portable beer tap was a key fixture at family reunions, usually held at whatever parish my uncle was stationed. And when beer was the drug of choice at my Catholic high school, I didn’t get understand because it was just another beverage to me.

So…I’m not a prude about beer, but my relationship with it is apparently different than Kelce’s. He’s 34 now - quickly heading into middle age. I was 8 and my dad had 4 kids when he was 34. So I guess I don’t get Kelce either. When I saw him down the beer, I kind of rolled my eyes and thought, “I remember my first beer.” I was only 4 or so, but I handled it better.

I wasn’t referring to you.
It was aimed at what you said was negative feedback to the video on YouTube.

As far as Kelce, he was PERFORMING in front of a crowd of mostly college students, on campus, as part of his podcast, which is supposed to be entertaining.

Plus he is single, extremely wealthy, very famous, and a professional athlete.
34 isn’t even close to being middle aged.

I dunno, I don’t see the problem.
He was having fun.
The beer chugging was 100% for the benefit of the crowd.
College kids love that sh!t.

Didn’t Jason do something similar at the super bowl?

It was a great event - that was the only thing I didn’t care for. I’m still amazed that they parlayed a podcast into filling an arena.

RE: New heights live
I didn't attend. But the storm threat was the event's best friend. Filling 5th/3rd created an electric atmosphere that just wouldn't have been present in a half filled Nippert. Maybe 5th/3rd was "the plan" all along and when ticket sales didn't reach a certain threshold the forecast provided a plausible excuse to move it indoors.

Overall though, it was great for our university--for the whole city really. And whatever share makes its way to Cincy Reigns we have the Kelce brothers to thank for returning to their alma mater and enriching it. How many other Bearcats in the pros have ever done anything on this scale?

I love the Kelce's for all they do for UC.

But guys, if Travis wasn't a Bearcat most of us would loathe him. Especially being a Chiefs player.

Why? I don't loathe Mahomes and he's a Chiefs player.

Kelce seems like a good dude. He's a lot of fun. Their podcast is insanely popular. It's not Bearcat fans driving New Heights podcast. Sure, there are people that don't like him, because famous people almost always have some haters. But Kelce is plenty popular with people who aren't just Bearcat fans.

You are probably right. If he went to Miami U I would hate him as much as I hated Ben Worthlessburger.

But... he didn't. He's one of US so he's cool.

Though I am glad he doesn't play for the Steelers or Browns. That may have been an issue.

I don't loathe Mahomes either but Mahomes doesn't project the same image that TK does. I understand why what you get on the surface with TK is polarizing to some. And if he weren't a Bearcat, I would probably only know the surface.

I'd be curious to know what the demographics are for New Heights podcast.

Bolded, without a doubt, he's going to have fans and detractors. But the reach of this event was off the charts. Above, a link to a clip from YouTube that was based upon coverage from the TV show Entertainment Tonight. Posted two days ago and 30,000 views already. Travis and Taylor gracing magazine covers worldwide including the cover of People Magazine a few weeks ago and a full story on the (London) Daily Mail website right after the event. Again, UC is gaining international publicity through this every day, with every click, and video viewed. IU, UK, OSU--can't touch this.

I wonder how many recruits were in the house Thursday night?

I hope a lot of recruits were there Thursday.

I've been following the podcast for a year or so. It is always greatly entertaining, more than any other podcast I listen to. And I am an old man.

Notre Dame on TV was the biggest Saturday football draw in Oxford.

I'm curious now if Hickman, Page or others were present for New Heights last Thursday at Fifth Third Arena. I suspect it's an allowable event for recruits to attend and certainly an experience they wouldn't get anywhere else on the recruiting trail this spring.

I agree. I hope many, many recruits from various sports were there. And if the Kelce's return next year, as they are threatening, it better be loaded with recruits.
