Just absurd. I understand not wanting to give free rein to coaches to just berate officials in the media, but man these guys still need to be held accountable for doing their jobs poorly.
I think I saw earlier this year that this was the first time ever the Big 12 had some sort of grading system for officials in their games this season. How is that possible? Is there any other job where you don’t get evaluated based off of your performance?

A lot to build on if the core stays. Successful in the sense that they learned a lot about themselves and what it takes to win. This thing could have gone in the dumpster many times this year but they found six wins in their last nine games vs really good competition.
It’s a big off season for Wes, he needs to learn and grow as much as the players do. It’s starts with recruiting his own roster and then finding the right guys in the portal. Scheduling needs to improve. Last but not least this program has to do a better job of understanding the fan frustration of losing to Xavier every year and find a way to get that game next season.
Goals for next year.
1. Beat Xavier
2. Make the NCAA tournament and advance in the tournament.
Side Goals:
1. Win at least two resume building non-conference games.
2. Finish with a winning record in the Big XII
3. Advance to the semifinals or better in the Big XII tournament.
4. Finish the year in the AP top 25.

The stats were pretty even other than free throws. Indiana State took 10 more free throws. UC only out rebounded them by 1 which I would have lost a bet on that. Bandaogo had a rough game - as many rebounds as Jizzle and was getting abused by Avila

Avila was a terrible matchup for him but wow did they get away with so much shoving him on rebounds (and dangerously on a dunk that lead to the wes t)

The shoving him around especially in the air looks to be the book on Aziz - it can't be a coincidence that every team does it.

Stepping back from the ridiculous ref run that ISU enjoyed to get back ahead in the game... I thought that was the best game UC has played all season.
They never had the standard extended scoring drought. They hit big threes. I've said all season that Jizzle and Day Day's minutes should have been reversed (does not make me a Day Day hater). I thought the D was adequate though the refs were allowing the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to chip block instead of setting legit screens all night.
Even though it would have applied, I'm not even going to invoke the two more made 3's principle as I thought the played as well as possble.

I am really proud how UC finished the season. They basically figured things out a bit too late but we saw the progress needed to give the fans hope that next season could be really special.

I don't necessarily agree it was our best game because the second half turnovers and the inability to guard them at times was frustrating (though credit to them, they are a GREAT offensive team). But we ran great stuff and had them on their heels all night defending us. They sacrifice on the defensive end. Probably the worst defensive team we've played other than wvu and osu since conference play began.
Anyways. Great offensive game. Defense was good in stretches but Avila was a terrible matchup for our bigs and we couldn't overcome the second half turnovers and horrible whistle.

Also... I'm kind of amazed at how good we are at getting Simas looks when every team we go against is keyed on taking away his shot. Wes has done an exceptional job creating offense for this team through great sets.

Lakhin is the best 5 on this team, but he’s not Wes’ guy.
If Vik sitting really is effort related, in his position I'd have a huge issue with Jamille getting so many minutes. Reynolds regularly stands around and watches in games, I can't imagine he's playing hard in practice. It's a double-standard if Wes is sitting Vik for lack of effort in practice. With the exception of a 4 minute stretch in the first half, Reynolds has been bad all tournament, mostly because he just stands around. I'd have a lot less of an issue if Ody was the one getting those minutes, he may be smaller, but he gives it his all.
On that subject, I rarely criticize substitutions, but subbing Reynolds in for defense to give Aziz rest with around 4 minutes left in the second half has to be one of the most inexplicable choices on the season. Not one person looks at Reynolds and says he's a guy you want to sub in for defensive purposes. Avila as a stretch 5, Ody was a better matchup for him too.
I don't get how you see Ody put in great work as a backup 5 in limited minutes against Bradley, have probably a better matchup for him against Avila and don't give him a shot.

Well I would contend that chubby was a bad matchup mainly because the refs let him do whatever he wanted all night. He was the slowest guy I've seen on a basketball court and he extended his arms on most every screen he "set" because of that.
I'm not arguing, but just curious as to what game you felt they were better in?

How can you say that?
Vik started every game until Miller practically had to force himself to stop starting him.
We don't need our 5's hanging out at the 3 point line smacking shots off the backboard. Vik always wanted to be a wing. Any rebounds he did get were shaky and Houston's animals just took the ball away from him at will.
Vik played himself onto the bench.

2024 Indiana State basketball team has been mentioned to be the best ISU basketball team since the 1979 Larry Bird team. Indiana state should have been playing in the NCAA tournament instead of the NIT. They were a better team than UC this year.
But man, it was tough seeing Bandaoga shooting free throws in such an important game.
