Wonder who they pursue now. Will Wade? Kevin Keatts? Saw Shaheen Holloway's name also mentioned.

No one at UCLA can figure out where the Cronin to Louisville talk is coming from? Cronin makes $4 million annually, he has a $20 million dollar buyout, and he loves living in Southern California. No one wants him to leave, and he doesn't want to leave.

I wouldn't get too comfortable with him at UCLA. UCLA will be at a distinct disadvantage versus the legacy members when it comes to travel. If tOSU comes calling I think he'd jump in a New York minute. He from Cincinnati which is just down the road from Columbus. But, sounds like Alford is looking for a new gig so there's hope. :D

This time of year it’s probably his agent name dropping.

All the drama aside, he wasn’t a good fit there. He’s a B18 guy through and through and wouldn’t have lasted 3 years at the Yum. Too boring and won’t win right away.

IMO Will Wade’s name is lit up in NEON and Louisville is being coy.

Kelsey is a firecracker as well and would be my second choice.

Maybe I should start a firm like Eddie Fogler

This guy will not get a look but watch out for him in the future Bucky McMillan from Samford University. Was a great high school coach and has improved Samford in a short amount of time. Great coach with an agressive style of play.

There have been a number of people on the Louisville board wondering why his name hasn't come up in the search.

Putting this back into the Michigan-side of things, I wonder what becomes of Phil Martelli. Does Dusty keep him around?

Great question. The same is being asked about Saddi Washington, who was a Beilein guy. Beilein’s influence is strong right now in Ann Arbor, so even look at a few of his previous assistants like Luke Yaklich.

This was from an interview with Cronin before the Northwestern game last season in the NCAA Tournament:

Q. Now that you're further west, as a coach, what does that feel like coming out of that geographical area, coming to the West Coast, California, specifically Los Angeles?
MICK CRONIN: You ever see that one of Tupac's videos, he's got the top down, driving through the flats of Beverly Hills doing this? That's how I feel every day. California love. It feels great.

Although we've had more rain. Rod Palmer (Assistant Coach) told me we've had more rain this year than we've had in 50 years. Worst winter in 50 years. Exponentially better than winter in Cincinnati.

Been great. Got a lot of friends where I'm at. I've always loved Southern California. Fertile recruiting ground. Best tradition in college basketball. It's been refreshing for my career.

This stuff can be a grind. Thirteen years at my alma mater was a great run for me. It was an honor of my lifetime to be able to coach at a school I rooted for growing up.

But getting a chance to be the coach at UCLA, sit in Coach Wooden's seat, has been awesome. I cherish it. Been a great, great time.

Like Mark Few?

Why I put "most" always exception to everything. Gonzaga will most likely turn into Georgetown, UNLV and UMASS after he leaves.

Or we could believe what has been reported that he didn't want the pressure cooker that is Louisville basketball. Michigan hoops will always be a distant two to their football program. I doubt the money was much different considering Louisville was going after Scott Drew.

Im sure he told the reporter he was running from pressure. Sounds like a typical reporter making up a good story.

Hilarious calling the Michigan job as “less pressurized” as if it’s some type of walk in the park. The Big Ten football powers other than maybe Penn State are still in the 95th to 99th percentile of monster basketball fan bases - this isn’t like a lot of the SEC where basketball is truly marking time until football season. It’s like calling the New York Giants coaching job less pressurized compared to the New York Yankees manager job. That might be technically true, but you still have the same pool of insane fans from the same market with unreasonable expectations scrutinizing your every move every day.

Who are you quoting?

You obviously don’t have any experience with Louisville’s fanbase if you think Michigan is a more demanding hoops job—which is an afterthought until the football team plays their last game.

No - I’m not saying that Louisville doesn’t have a more intense basketball fan base than Michigan by a tick or two. However, it’s a constant mistake so many people (particularly from SEC and ACC country that like the draw distinct lines between football and basketball or college and pro sports fan bases) make so much: we can walk and chew gum at the same time in the Big Ten footprint. The “football schools” here still watch basketball at among the highest levels, which is why the Big Ten is consistently the most-watched *basketball* conference with the highest *basketball* attendance every year. We also watch college football AND NFL football at the highest levels. We have among the most loyal and passionate MLB, NBA and NHL fan bases, too. We are not one track mind sports fans in the Midwest. Our “#4 sports team” in Chicago would still dwarf the fan base of the “#1 sports team” in the vast majority of other markets.

So, my point is that just because the Michigan basketball job might be a bit less pressurized than the Louisville job is neglecting the fact that the Michigan basketball job is still in the 99th percentile of pressurized jobs. Michigan still has a basketball fan base that dwarfs the vast majority of other power schools even being a “football school”. Maybe Louisville is in the 99.9th percentile, which I wouldn’t argue with here.

RE: Dusty May to Michigan
Further to my last point, Michigan fired Juwan Howard - an actual Michigan Man from their most famous and legendary basketball team - 2 years removed from a Sweet Sixteen appearance and 3 years removed from an Elite Eight appearance.

This is an uber-wealthy school with a massive and uber-wealthy fan base that pretty much has zero patience whether it’s football, basketball, hockey or any other sport. Once again, maybe if you did a forced ranking of high pressure jobs, Louisville would technically rank higher than Michigan, but when you actually look at Michigan on its own, there isn’t anything low pressure about that place whatsoever.
