Of the 4 newcomers - Houston seems like the best fit - geographically and in basketball, some serious college BB history

Also, Kelvin Sampson is a really really good coach

Had he not got his hand caught in the cookie jar he'd have probably brought Indiana back

RE: Big 12, Welcome to Houston Basketball
I might have about four to eight coaches (Bill Self and Rick Pitino clearly would be included) in my Tier 1-A.

In Tier 1-B, I would likely have 15 to 20 coaches. And Kelvin Sampson would be included in that tier. He's a strong coach and one reason, among others, the Houston program has been so competitive for a while now.

Iowa State's 28 point trouncing of Houston is the largest MOV over the AP #1 team since UCLA beat Houston by 32 in the 1968 Final Four.

And Houston is still a #1 seed. ISU plays some nasty D.

That Arena was Packed! Kansas City is a crazy host city. So many Iowa State fans showed up for the conference finals.

That was an insane crowd.

All joking aside, great season by UH. If I was a betting man I’d expect them in the Final 4 at minimum. A blowout loss like this might return a chip to their shoulder.

It's a basketball hotspot. The old Big 8 tourney was always there, so it makes sense to stay there considering 5 to 4 Big 8 vs SWC:

Colorado
Iowa State
Kansas
K State
Okie State

vs

Baylor
TCU
Texas Tech
Houston

Yeah 30-4 is pretty good especially in the Big 12. Why someone would make an off color comment suggests well maybe they need a life.

Yes, we have to see how it plays out. Could shake their confidence, or feed their fire.

Hopefully, the latter. Besides, I'd rather lose now than at any point in the NCAA tourney.

Sadly, UConn has now tied Georgetown with 8 Big East tournament championships.

The loss isn’t going to influence how we do in the tourney one way or another. Health will determine how far we go in the tourney. Right now I’m really worried about the E8. Kind of feels like that might be where we run up against a wall.

If Cougar Red had met with media consultant Bill Dazzle, the latter would have advised the former to refrain from having started this thread — with tonight's beat-down of Houston a fine example of the perils of chest-thumping.

On a serious note, Houston has enjoyed a tremendous season, and maybe this loss will allow the Cougars to recalibrate.

Congrats to Iowa State and their fans. Impressive.

The two best teams I saw all year in person were these two. Expect them to do very well in the playoffs.

And what’s the nickname for that arena?

Oh yeah, Hilton South…

They have been bringing it like that for decades.

Perhaps some Iowa St players read this thread and got motivated. 04-rock04-rock

Iowa St looking like a #1 seed.
