It will be interesting to see which EMU players jump in the portal. Hopefully none that will contribute next season.

Now would be a great time for Game above to pool resources together and offer the FCS record setting QB a $100 - $200k NIL deal. :-)

The coach who maximizes the portal is now going to be the big winner. I suspect at a MAC school, HS connections will pale in comparison to those of NCAA assistants who can identify the next Samson Evans, Jaylen Jackson, Taylor Powell, etc...

RE: Official 2023 - 2024 Transfer Portal Thread
Sorry to be so negative, but I'm looking at this roster and dont really see any contributors that will be back next year that I'd be devastated if they left. I clearly dont want anyone to leave but our big contributors (i.e. Samson, Jaylon, Sparacio, Kline are all graduating as I understand it). I just dont think anyone coming back has put enough great tape out there to leave and be a difference maker somewhere else.
Last year stung when we lost our WR to BYU. I would be disappointed if a couple of our freshmen left, I guess.
Hoping we dont lose much and we gain at the following positions...
-QB
-LB
-OL

Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Katin Houser. Get it done.

Katin Houser looked good in spurts against Big Ten competition. He will have much better suitors than us. Noah Kim, on the other hand…

I believe Jaylon Jackson has another year left. Looking at his career and the fact he didn't participate in senior night leads me to believe he has one year left. His career has gone:
2020: Freshman, played but didn't count.
2021: Redo Freshman
2022: Sophomore
2023: Junior
2024: Senior
I also think there are underclassmen I would be disappointed to lose besides just Jackson. Off the top of my head: Mitchell and Getzinger and any of the young linemen that haven't played on offense. On defense there is quite a few guys: White, Scandrett, Price, Swindle, Coleman....I think Cam Smith is pretty good. Josh Scott should be back from injury.

CC has done a good job pulling guys from the portal. I expect him to continue that trend.

Maybe so but if we can land Ben Bryant, we have a chance. All I'm saying. Definitely would have to "overpay" for him.

Thanks, Sellers. I was wondering about Jaylon graduating If he comes back, that is a MAJOR plus. I think his shiftiness and ability to be a game changer is a major advantage. I think about the last game where Austin had a roll out and dumped it off to Jaylon and near the sideline he turned it up and inside for a TD.

That play was a thing of beauty. Next level shiftiness.

On offense, EMU really needs to add a playmaker or two. The current receivers are solid but all seem to be possession type guys. Need someone that is electric in the open field. JJ is currently the only one. Hopefully there are others amongst the underclassmen. Deion Brown maybe?

Do you mean "a" Ben Bryant. Has already used 6 years.

Leavitt the freshman QB from MSU would be a dream! We also desperately need OLs, LBs, RBs, and DBs........We need 10-12 transfers to play immediately on both sides on the ball! We beat an FCS school, and 5 teams with losing records! This schedule is why we're going to a bowl game!

Meaning if we were able to land Ben Bryant before, we should be able to compete for Houser this time.
