Sammy Anderson makes it official. I know UC is really serious about concussion stuff and I'm sure he wanted to get back on the field this year. I hope it all works out for him.

Sure...he is just a work in progress.

Outside of the actual coaching and scouting staff, I have probably seen that kid play more than just about any other UC related person. He has good arm talent, very good running the ball, but the offense they play at De La Salle is VERY basic in the passing game. He spent 3 years throwing to open receivers in one read sets, and now he is going to be throwing receivers open in route combinations that require you to read coverages...it'll take him a year or two to get up to speed, but he has the physical traits and abilities that make his potential very high as a QB. I think you have to get a guy with starting experience and quality play under his belt in order to have a chance next year though. If Drogosh beats him, then so be it, but I don't think he'll be ready next year without a HUGE and extremely difficult rapid development in the mental aspects of the QB position.

Yea my ideal situation would be the staff finds an experienced QB in the portal with 1-2 years remaining and they have Drogosh as his backup (assuming Lichtenberg transfers). By all accounts, you're right, he's not ready to take the reigns yet but could be pushing for playing time if it develops. Until then, spend some NIL money to grab a talented passer who needs a change of scenery to dig us out of this hole.

I also would bet on Landon Fickell staying put.

Which I will ask again, why not put him in for the last 2-3 games when we have nothing to lose???

What was the worst that could happen? Experience???

CSS stated in several of the last pressers that the team was still trying to win games despite the fact they weren't bowl eligible. He wanted to play guys that gave the team the best chance to win. I'll take BMan's word that Drogosh is struggling to process the offense right now. That doesn't help the team win and it puts the kid at risk for injury. It would've been brutal against West Virginia and Kansas IMO. Also, Lichty is QB2 on the depth chart so he was going to get the playing time outside of EJ.

I mean, I agree with you to an extent...I don't think Emory should've been playing in the last two games, but alas, we aren't the ones making the decisions.

This was something else Chad went over in his podcast. Basically said that when you have two guys you are rotating they are taking all the reps in practice. Drogosh is just running the scout team all week. It wouldn't be fair to the kid to throw him to the fire when he's not even getting the reps in practice. Now, one could argue couldn't he just get the reps, but that would mean one of the other two running the scout team because there just isn't enough time in one week to work all three in with the first team. That also goes back to what BearcatMan was saying with him being so far behind in reading defenses and him running scout team, it would have probably been ugly and ruined the kids confidence had he been thrown into the fire.

LB: Daved Jones and maybe Jah-Mal Williams
DL: Domonique Perry, Justin Wodtly, and maybe Rob Jackson
DB: Sammy Anderson, Todd Bumphis, and maybe Kalen Carroll
S: Isaiah Cox and Oliver Bridges

I took this as Wodtly being gone

Officially out

Good to see Fletcher coming back. Might be the best player on the team right now.

03-lmfao Hope he gets back to form. He didn't look like the same guy most of this season.

He alluded to getting healthy in the off-season, so part of me wonders if he was playing through something at some point. He was definitely not his usual self, although part of that is the change in punt team and protection IMO. He got his kicks out a lot earlier this year, that may have affected his ability to really lay into them.

Tremendous to hear from the best player on the roster and one of the best players in the country. Leaders like him are going to bring this program back sooner than many expect.

That is shocking, I figured he would be a top 100 draft pick this year.

What coach wouldn't want to build a defense around this young man? He's incredible and his loyalty to the Bearcats is greatly appreciated after such a disappointing season.

Here's hoping he can be surrounded with talent on the line and some "ready now" newcomers in the defensive backfield to get this team back above .500.

They are both classics, but I always preferred The Godfather Part II to the original. Just saying!
