No. Understand, UGA's hate for GA Tech doesn't out weigh their hate for Auburn. In state hate just hits a little bit different.

The GA Southern-APP State rivalry won't be going away anytime soon hopefully. But understand the GA Southern-GA State rivalry existed even before GA State fielded a football team. Any fan who tells you differently is lying to you. "The Real GSU" didn't start with football.

I agree. This isn't Georgia vs Georgia Tech it's Georgia State vs Georgia Southern. They have their own history and don't need to play off of the larger rivalry.

Although "Modern Day Hate" isn't bad. I'd prefer something like, "Battle for the "Real GSU" or "Battle of the GSU's".

I don’t like this game. At all.

1) GS gets back to back home games on a short week.
2) GSU travelled to Louisiana, back to Atlanta and then goes to Statesboro a few days later? Ugh
3) Law of averages are a thing, and GS is due to win one.
4) I’m not confident that Grainger is 100%. The offense was not good after he got hit in the 2nd quarter.
5) GS is not sleeping in game prep for this one. They will be READY.
6) GSU has a long, long history of playing flat after a big win. Players have typically bought into their own hype. With every win we’ve gotten, we are way, way, way overdue for a dud.

Nothing here is favorable for us.

I’m calling it:

GS: 38
GSU: 24

This is Trap Week. I think it’ll be full of FBS upsets. State could easily fall victim if not focused.

the trap gast fans should be worried about is overpaying one of your coordinators to stay after elliot takes the appy job. i would let him take his entire staff and do a national search for an established HC.

you know he hasn't forgot all the trash yall gave him about not recruiting and not living in atlanta. coaches have a long memory. he's taking calls from his agent right now and letting a GA run the special teams period of practice.

I think most knowledgeable GS fans recognize that this years state team is very good and poses and issue for us on Thursday night, especially with the issues we’ve had pop up in the past couple of weeks offensively. Thankfully the game is in Statesboro and state is traveling for a second week in a row. Hopefully that benefits GS. Should be a very good game, as most games in the series have been.

GS's QB is on the struggle bus right now. I am not feeling good about this game. Only thing that was superb in the ULM game was rush defense and our RB is finally healthy and good to go. We just play horrible in general in this series no matter how much better we have been. At best it is a coin flip for GS.

We've got a monkey we need to get off our back. Kind of like when Samford entered the SoCon and they beat us 3 times in a row.

More like an annoyance since we have been overall better but still drop this game way too much. This time GSU has the better resume. Four out of the six losses we had a better record at the end of the year.

This is the first time this game means anything as the conference championship might be on the line most times it has no real meaning. It actually has helped get two bum coaches fired for us.

For me it is 2 different kinds of hate. Different reasons as others have pointed out on this board. I think the App/GS hate week is one of the last of the "clean hate" games in the game today. Of course there's always some poor conduct that happens but largely it is still a great game.

Georgia State is the kind of hate that comes with the frustration of not being able to complete a task from start to finish without umpteen issues. At this point celebrating that rare win is like that moment when Griswold finally finishes decorating his house and then his cousin shows up.

The trash talk from both sides on Twitter has gotten pretty nasty. I’m assuming most of it is coming from younger people but then I see some people I know are older that are contributing. Definitely no love lost between the two fan bases.

I don't have twitter, facebook or any of that so I don't have exposure to what is going on out there. Honestly that is a relief. I don't do trash talk because I don't see the point. So many that engage in trash talk aren't able to eat what they dished out. At that point they're arguing for the sake of arguing. Ain't nobody got time for that. Or at least I don't.

Those refraining from twitter comments this week are the real winners. I see the usual suspects stroking flames. As I get older, I just don't see the point.
