Early but I just looked at the Kenpom rankings for all of UABs AAC opponents. There are only two outside of the top 200 - Tulsa and UTSA. Several inside the top 100, several more in the low 100s- close to top 100.

Our conference schedule should give us a lot of opportunities for good wins.

With Lamar my second favorite team that score made me smile.

Mike Davis is still at Detroit Mercy (303). His team is off to an 0-3 start, but boy did they almost pull off an upset last night in Oxford, MS. Ole Miss (116) lead 34-31 at halftime, but DM took the lead early in the second half and late in the game. DM led 69-68 with less than a minute to go. A foul and two free throws gave the game to the Rebels.

I’m not sure how Davis is hanging onto his job. His teams have struggled as of late.

Then there is Jerod Haase at Stanford (69). They lost yesterday at home to cross-area Santa Clara (102), 89-77. The best I can tell, Haase is only 1-2 against Santa Clara since becoming the big-time Stanford coach. Haase has only had one winning season in the PAC-12. He will need an outstanding season this year to be coaching against the ACC next year.

id like to see the Stanford Admin replace Haase with Ehsan if he stumbles again this year.

I am dumbfounded that Stanford has held on to haase that long. They must’ve really fallen off as an athletics department to accept mediocrity like that. He’s stayed on SO long. He really is a mediocre coach at best.

Mike Davis makes it a habit to be just good enough to hang around longer than he should at jobs. He wasn’t terrible at UAB, but stayed probably a year, maybe 2, longer than he should have. I guess DM couldn’t have fired him while his son was still there lol / that would be pretty damn dirty.

He should have been fired for texting Andy Katz about losing multiple players to academic failure.

It was impossible to fire him after his 2nd-to-last year, with an NCAA bid and conference championship. His texting [redacted] while the guy was still [redacted] at [redacted] should have brought not only a firing but a show-cause order. We dodged a large-caliber bullet on that one.

And as much as we all hated Phil Martelli at the time (remember the urinal targets? "Piss on me like I pissed on Tom!"), Phil was right about Davis.

Davis would have done much better if he'd lost all of his fingers in a tragic gardening accident.

That can still be true. Just because the bottom of the conference isn't great, doesn't mean the top half won't provide better opportunities than we've had in the past.

Were you counting on ECU and USF to be 2 of the better teams in this conference? You don't have to be a jerk every time somebody has an opinion that isn't yours, and you don't have to purposefully twist things around to fit your weird agendas.
