Come on down and enjoy both our campus and Orlando. Plenty to do here. Win or lose, you can still booze afterward over at Burger U near the stadium.

I have miles and points to cover a cheap flight and hotel but had to fight the urge because it won't be a fun flight back after getting roasted (hope I'm wrong). And for those reasons I had this circled on my calendar since it was announced and we were building the program back up; this should have been a competitive game, then it all crumbled.07-coffee3

I'm going into this season with zero expectations and not caring about wins or losses. I just want to be entertained. If it's going to be a rough season I want to see them play with motivation before they deflate. Best way to do that is getting out there week one.

Most of the analysts I've either heard or read making predictions about UCF for 2023 is that our floor is a 4-8 record and our ceiling is 8-4. I think UCF fans would just be satisfied with going to any bowl game this season.

If our coach and offense from last year didn't leave, I think this had the potential to be a really exciting game. With a new coach and 11 new starters on offense I'm just hoping for positive signs and everyone that walks off the bus walking back on.

True dat, between this one and Fresno St. I was pumped and thinking we'd finally have 2 competitive OOC games and road games I'd try to make, then the mass exodus started.03-banghead

As you guys may have heard, there is a tropical storm heading toward Florida. Right now, it is expected to make landfall north of Orlando and hit closer to Tallahassee. I think the Orlando area weather will be fine for us to play the game, but the question is, will your team be able to fly in on time? Have you guys heard anything?

EDIT: Check that, not a tropical storm any more, it's actually reached hurricane strength.

Yeah there's a hurricane headed your way. The KentGrit Hurricane. I would recommend evacuating immediately.

03-lmfao Thanks, I'm glad you guys can have a sense of humor even with your team rebuilding.

Governor DeSantis declared a state of emergency in several counties on or close to the west coast of Florida today. Orange County, where UCF is, isn't one of the counties. Hopefully, your team is flying in today or tomorrow (Tuesday).

Flying in?!? Wouldn't surprise me to see the boys bussing down and back without staying over and selling it them as a team bonding experience.03-lmfao

Yeah, nothing like bonding while driving through heavy rain and wind gusts around 30-40 mph. LOL

RE: Kent State vs. UCF
I'll say this for tropical storms and hurricanes: They are tough to predict and can be frustrating when it comes to deciding whether or not a football game should be played. For example, even if the storm doesn't directly affect Orlando, we have some players on the team who might have family in the counties under a hurricane watch. It's understandable that those players might want to go help their families out.

Here's the part that gets me, though: There could be concern about heavy rain bands, but then, when the day comes when the game was supposed to be played, the storm and all the rain could have shifted in an entirely different direction and we could have a bright sunny day at the Bounce House. This happened a few years ago when we were supposed to play Georgia Tech in Orlando in 2017; on the day the game was supposed to be played, we had beautiful weather. Frustrating, but couldn't do anything about it. There's no way the team, the stadium, any of it could have been properly prepared for the game with the craziness of the storm going on earlier in the week.

Keep your fingers crossed. I'd like for this game to happen. It's not the end of the world if we have to reschedule you guys . . . I just hate waiting longer for our season to start!

How about a home-home? You guys come and play in Ohio next November. Interested?

Golden, many of us here have been fans a long time (1963 for me). We've had plenty of practice at keeping our sense of humor even while rebuilding.

If we're going to make this deal I think we should add that if a game has to get cancelled by Ohio weather UCF gets the win by forfeit and vice versa.

My answers to questions like that one guarantee UCF would never hire me to be AD, ha ha ha.

Oh, so if we have to cancel this week's game because of the hurricane, Kent wins by forfeit? I see where this is going . . . .

We don’t want a cancellation due to a hurricane, we need that $900k payday.

Probably would be rescheduled to a later season. We've got numerous OOC holes to fill. But I'd rather play this Thursday, too.

I only date back to about 1994 when we were in FCS, then known as Division 1-AA; I think you guys used to play at that level also, if I remember correctly. Anyway, I took my first courses at UCF in the fall of 1994. My dad, who is also a UCF graduate, was starting to take a greater interest in the football team as the athletic program was preparing to move to Division 1-A in 1996 and brought in UCF's biggest signee ever at the time in quarterback Daunte Culpepper. We became season ticket holders in 1997 and have kept those tickets ever since. We've been at home games through all kinds of circumstances, good and bad and just incredibly crazy situations. I may need to work on my sense of humor myself this season, LOL, because who knows how we'll do in the Big XII in this first season.
