If we have a great season - as in stay 1st or 2nd in the conference all year and beat Boise then we'll average close to 30k. If the season falls apart early then it'll be 15-20k at home games for year 4 of Silvercrap.

Outside of Boise & Navy (because they are Navy) if the Tigers lose a 3rd game most of the fans are just going to check out and who can blame them after a 30-40 year struggle has resulted in 'this'.

I think beating Boise, Missouri and Tulane is going to be a stretch for us. Winning 2 will keep the wolves at bay, one will be about on par given what we have done. Losing our starting TE to Ole Miss really hurts. We lose all 3 and the season is done.

We aren't beating Missouri in StL but we don't need to. We do need to beat Boise and Tulane as both of those games are at home.

This season will be THE best opportunity we will have for a long, long time with the way the schedule sets up in a weakened AAC to win it - getting to the title game would be nice but we have to close the deal and win it THIS season. Next year even with a better team will be a whole lot tougher.

Having said that, what do I expect? 8-4 / 7-5 with a raise and an extension for Silverclown because he 'improved'.

This season, anything less than 10-2 and playing in the AAC title game should get us a new fb coach.

A depleted Pac12 is still better than the MWC, what it likely means is that neither the Pac12 or Big12 are expanding.

It means the Pac 12 isn’t . I think the big 12 is definitely expanding. Just with Colorado and Arizona

Makes me think the PAC is about to wrap up their TV contract which will keep the Conf together. They weren’t going to give SDSU the opportunity to dictate moving forward.

Also there is nothing to indicate where the B12 is on getting additional $$$ from TV to support expansion of full membership. ESPN just spilled a lot of talent blood and the network may be sold off.

As far as wearing a black armband and wallowing in self-pity… no thanks. I’m going to enjoy the season, continue to support the team and university and be part making everything better.

Man what I wouldn't give to have Houston's spot. We earned it - they politicked it.

It's why I am about ready to throw in the towel on Memphis athletics....

Hey man, there are probably 5,000 fans that live and die with Prairie View football. Good for them if they are having a good time. Everybody gets to decide for themselves what they do and don't want to support.

I'm just going to sit back and wait and see what happens. I did my part for 30-40 years. Someone else can carry the torch - I will gladly go along for the ride if times ever change for Tiger athletics.

NIL is going to ruin all but the big boys and even some of their fans aren’t going to pay.

What you are saying doesn't seem to make sense. If the Big 12 was going to add Colorado and Arizona (and only them), The PAC12 would automatically add SDSU and SMU. If SDSU isn't going, it is good news for us because it means that the PAC12 is staying intact.

The absolute BEST case for Memphis is for the PAC12 to stay together and add teams.

I really don't get this POV.

Is it depressing right now in this current landscape? Yes for sure.

However, UofM athletics has never been in a better position than it is now. Rudd and company, sustained football success, much better facilities and finances, increased emphasis on non-revenue programs.

We have done our part and are showing that we will continue to do our part. The failure would be if we were still practicing football on HS fields and letting LBMS crumble.

So what has changed for you?

"Keep your friends close and you enemies cliser" As a Houston grad, you guys are both. Politics kept Houston out if the Big 12 when it was firmed. In the 18 years it was in the SWC the school out performed Tech and Baylor by a large margin. The governor then, Ann Richard's was a Baylor grad a politics was very much the reason UH was left out.

I think The networks are the ones in control now and everyone has to fall in line with what they want. I have always liked the AAC and saw that the P6 thing was working with schools going to the final 4 and CFP. Hopefully the conference will continue to improve. I am waiting for Temple vrs Rice, that will be a real bird fight.

So what has changed for you?

The years piled up. I was there all through the late 70's, the 80's, the 90's, and getting left behind in CUSA the first time in the 00s. It wears on you. We finally turn the corner and it's not enough. We finally achieved a success level that was on par with the glory days of the 60's and then the rules change and the money gap is worse than ever, we get left behind again and we have the Pastner version of a football coach being given a 4th year.

As I said, I think it's primarily the cumulative effect of decades of disappointment.....
