I could obviously be wrong...its happened before...but much like College Man said, I don't see a spot for him. Like was mentioned, he's a 3 point shooter who played 20+ minutes a game at DePaul and only averaged around 5 ppg.

Now...playing in the Big East and playing in the MAC and the size and athletic ability of defenders is not equal. So an increase in ppg is possible. But I don't see him supplanting any of Coit, Williams or Nutter and he doesn't play inside at all so he's not all that useful in as the 4 or 5 because Ibarguen, Konan, Duro and Bradley should have those spots solidified.

But yeah, I do agree that this signing makes this one of the deepest rosters we've had....as long as I can remember. And it could still be improved upon.

I do expect him to get substantial minutes next season but coming in as a sub. Plus, I think that's the best way to use him.

5 ppg average??? Then he's not much of a 3-point shooter. In those videos, did they keep showing the same shot or two?

I'd have to know more about how DePaul played. He didn't seem to take many shots but he shot at a really good clip (around 37%, I believe). You'd think they'd be shooting 3s but I'm not sure about who was shooting and how they were distributing and running an offense.

Nobody is coming from a Big East team to the MAC unless they believe they can start. I’m predicting he’ll start as a 2 or 3.

He can believe it all he wants but Burno isn't going to make a promise to him and just force him into the lineup.

Tbh, he might see NIU as a much better way to get to the NCAA Tournament over DePaul for his final year. He's also a grad transfer so that may have had some influence on his decision.

We also don't know what conversations he had with his coach and the potential for his playing time to diminish substantially. It's already been noted he wasn't starting or playing as much down the stretch. Seems like the coach had moved on from him and it's quite possible his stock wasn't that high because of it.

He is taking on the Derwishi Hunter role he’s just a few inches taller but he’s here to make 3’s. Hunter was much better from 3 than Philemon. Over looked is the kid from NM State. He may push NIU to a new level if he’s good.

Hunter was much better than him this year, but this year was an extreme outlier for Hunter. At Central State, Hunter shot 38.5% from 3PT. Then at Weber State, he only shot 7 3PTers (making 5 of them). Which is nothing to draw any conclusions from at all. Then at NIU, he shot 23.7% (14 of 59) his first year and then 42.1% last year (51 of 121).

By contrast, in his first year at South Plains, Gebrewhit shot 30.9% from the arc (21 of 68). His 2nd year, he shot 41% (34 of 83). Then in his first year at DePaul, he shot 27.6% (24 of 87) and then last year he shot 37.2% (23 of 60).

Hunter was hot a fire last year and he shot but I wouldn't make too many generalizations about how much better or not he is than Gebrewhit. Hunter could easily shoot under 30% this year for Akron.

Hunters confidence was sky high once he got going and by the end of the season he was The Huskies second best player. I would’ve loved to see him back coming off the bench again for The Huskies. He’s going to Miami Ohio not Akron. Thorton is going to Akron.

We don’t have anyone on the current team with his attributes and skillset combination. If he’s putting in the work, I don’t see him not starting.

Assuming everyone is healthy (which is quite optimistic in regards to Williams) at the beginning of the season, he'd basically have Nutter to beat out for a starting spot because he's not going to play in place of Ibarguen or Bradley (assuming Bradley is in the starting lineup and I see no reason why he wouldn't be) and he's not better than either Coit or Williams. And I'd probably start a healthy Russell over him too as he's a PG.

With that said, Nutter has a skill set that Gebrewhit can't match as well. Obvioulsy, he's a better 3PT shooter than Nutter but he's only an inch taller and Nutter is probably better defensively and can handle the inside part of the game much better.

IMO, in order to beat out Nutter...I'd say Gebrewhit is going to have to be averaging at least 15 ppg and he's never done that, while Nutter did (well...12.5 but that's a lot closer than 5...)
