You sound like the president of the Josh Pastner fan club.

So that MSU guy that finds problems with every single post and starts fights with every single person on the board gets banned and now a new guy pops up that finds problems with every single post and trying to start fights with every single person....

hrm... scratch my head....

anyone else notice how good the board has been lately pre-thisguy showing up?

First off, I haven’t tried to fight with anyone. I made a comment about how well Penny has done. Then instantly one person makes a wise crack about how fans act like Penny hung the moon. He made that comment in a posting started by someone saying “thank you to Penny”, which is low class. I then respectfully disagreed with his takes. I didn’t call him names. I’ve only posted like 9 times. Your claim that I’m trying to fight with everyone is a lie, totally false. I believe I’ve only responded to three people in total. You being the third one.

The claim that I am someone else, such as the MSU person is absurd. I am not him. I am Keith. You only accuse me of being another person because you don’t like what I have posted here. Probably if I came here to post negative stuff about Penny, you would like it. With your response to me here, it seems clear that you do not like Penny. Which you are free to do. I have no desire to fight with you or anyone else. Yes, I did make a wise crack to that one guy, saying to him that he must be the president of the Josh Pastner fan club. But that doesn’t equate to me wanting to fight with everyone here.

I simply joined this message board because I love the Tigers.

Love Penny, wanted him hired instead of Tub. Just sick of several people on here attacking posters every possible opportunity. We had a week or so of nice quiet, peaceful back and forth debate.

But even now in your post you are on the attack... I must hate Penny because you are jumping on other posters.

No. I am not on the attack. I am not jumping on other posters. I do not want to argue with you or anyone else. I pointed out that you accused me of being someone else. That is false. I also said I am not wanting to fight with everyone here. Your claim about that is also false, it is not true. I’ve only responded to three people. I disagreed with the one person about Penny. That is not fighting. That is disagreeing. Will you please give me the benefit of the obvious doubt? Again I joined because I love the Tigers.

To prove that I am not wanting to fight with everyone, like you say I do, I will not respond to you again about this. Because then all it becomes is you saying I want to fight with everybody and me saying that I don’t.

Looks like some past Penny rosters with some local middling Memphis guys & now two sons. All of whom will get an inordinate amount of PT over more talented players. And unfortunately the talent will be young & prone to mistakes & inconsistency. Add an experienced big & PG from the portal and it could provide for a good, successful mix that wins a lot of games or a big potential for inconsistency, jealousy, dissension & loses to teams we should beat in a watered down league that will get no respect

Temple’s Khalif Battle can shoot it. He likes Penny and he’s in the transfer portal. He scored 25 against us in the game here in Memphis.

He’d be a great get although perhaps a little streaky. He was terrible when we played them up there.

Yes he wasn’t good against us that game. He was 2-14. But maybe our defense was pretty good that game because only two players for Temple played good. Nick Joudain had 16 and Dunn had 23.

In the game here, Battle was 7-12, made four 3’s for 25 points. He averaged 17. He had 24 vs Houston, on 6-12 with four 3’s.

Ironic. Davis is not a true point guard, ALo should have been bringing the ball up.

Can't help but wonder if we didn't send a few of the wrong players packing. Guess we will never know.

KD had the ball because he can hit free throws.

Ok, tell me about it. I can actually discuss without personal insults or arguments.

Recruits
Mikey Williams (5 star) (6-2 Combo Guard) (signed)
Ty-Laur Johnson (4 star) (6-0 PG) (hard commit)
JJ Taylor (4 star) (4 star) (6-7 SF) (signed)
Ashton Hardaway (4 star) (6-7 PF) (signed)
Carl Cherenfant (4 star) (6-5 SF) (signed)
Ryan Forrest (3 star) (6-3 SG) (signed)
David Tubek (3 star) (6-6 PF) (hard commit)

The above represents the 5th best rated class in D-1 and by far the best in the new AAC.

I do not know the hang up with the two players yet to sign.

My guess is not everyone returns and not everyone signs. Penny also has the option to designate his sons walk ons. Penny will be hitting the transfer market and I suspect he will do well.

We need a big and some size

We'll need some leadership. Who's gonna step up?

that's why I'm hoping Jayden, Malco, and the Lawson's come back as they seem to buy into what Penny is doing.

isn't Ashton a four-star recruit? I hope he does get PT. I think you're just still mad from the game...I get it, crap call cost Memphis a Sweet 16. It is what it is.

I think it’s a good possibility that all of those high school guys won’t be coming. Mikey, JJ, Hardaway, Ty-Laur, and Cherenfant are locks to come, in my opinion.
Also it’s likely that we have a couple more decide not to return. Obviously Jayden is a lock to return.

Look for Penny to land some really good ones via the portal.

Kao
Thank your for the info. Sadly, it's really getting tough to sift through all the BS, but your post looks old school legit. If history is any indication of the future, Penny will land at least a couple of 5 stars and we should be even better for 2023-24 than we were this past season, despite the Wiseman NCAA issues. Penny and the 2022-23 Tigers overachieved big time even with NCAA scrutiny and basically the loss of an entire recruiting class as a result.

83's list is accurate, as to the number of players, who they are, etc.

I just don't think Forrest is actually signed. I think he's still a hard commit like Johnson and Tubek. I know 247 shows him as signed, but some beat writer (I think maybe Munz) says he did not sign last time.

We need a veteran ball handler and guard
We need a consistent knock down shooter
We need a physical big

None of those guys have to be studs but we need those roles filled.

We need rebounders. Rebounding is one aspect of the game that consistently hurt us.

Forget the psychology. Ashton is a composite 3-star last I saw with a 4-star on one of the services. But hard to imagine a 3-4 star wing who is not particularly athletic to be a major contributor in his freshman year. Same goes for a 4-5 star PG/SG or two. Who's the go-to guy when you need a bucket, who's going to get a rebound, dominate inside? IMO, it's no one on the current roster for 23-24. Last time we had a #1 class we couldn't beat Oregon. It takes experience & strength not usually found in freshmen. Hope we find them in the portal - and hope they don't shy away from signing because of the Memphis guys & sons on the roster.
