These schools know each other for the most part.
That history of previously having shared leagues drove, in large part, the AAC additions.

The current AAC offers four men's hoops programs of historic and major national notoriety: Cincy, Houston, Memphis and Temple. UH is clearly the strongest program of the three at this point.

This year - yes. Long term, I think Cincy will be better

Cincy should be better given the exposure and money it will get in the Big 12. It will not be an even playing field, so the comparison is not particularly apples to apples. Now, I suppose you could argue that Memphis will have it a lot easier as a member of a modest men's hoops league. As such, if Memphis is not better than Cincy, that's Memphis' fault. I get it.
I just hope both UC and UM do well in the future.

I don't think it's clear at all really. They are at least even. Cincy hasn't replaced Cronin well at all.

RE: AAC new additions not looking so bad now.
I'm actually really optimistic about AAC basketball. Obviously losing Houston is a killer, as well as Cincy, even if they've been down the past couple years, but us and UNT have been solid for awhile, and FAU of course has put itself on the map nationally (hopefully they can continue the success if May leaves). Rice and Charlotte are improved, at least to the point where they aren't absolutely NET killers.... UTSA seems focused on football. And Memphis will still be there, Temple and Wichita are strong programs, and Tulane is much improved from when we used to play them. I don't see why this couldn't still be a 2-3 bid league after this year.
As for AAC football.... well, we'll see.

I don't have time to respond to this nonsense right now. I'm getting ready to watch UNT's men's basketball team play in the second round of the NIT.
SHSU 55
UNT 75
FINAL.... and it wasn't as close as the score.
NIT Quarterfinals
UNT 65
Oklahoma State 59
FINAL
UNT men's basketball team advances to Las Vegas.

Thanks, and good luck to Cincinatti against Utah Valley. I'm really hoping Cincy and UAB play for your side of the bracket.
For similar reasons, I'm hoping Coach Miller can get the team there for continued post season experience and prep for next year in the B12. We have to play on the road for the second game in a row due to planned floor renovations in Cincinnati's arena.

So future AAC has a team in the CBi final, 1 team in the NIT final 4, possibly a 2nd in UAB, and oh yeah, FAU is still alive.

RE: AAC new additions not looking so bad now.
If either UAB or UNT wins the NIT and if somehow FAU makes it to the Final Four — and with Charlotte's CBI title ... that would be insane for C-USA. Under that scenario, there would be an argument to be made for C-USA having the most impressive post-season performance of all the leagues.
But those are two major "ifs" and I don't see it happening (at least not FAU advancing to the FFour).
Regardless, C-USA hoops deserves major props for this postseason. Strong showing, indeed.

and great momentum for those schools going into the AAC next year now. Will be interesting to see how they fare in the new conference.
