FAU may be moving to the AAC, but their facilities and fan support are still in the Sunbelt.
UTSA gave Traylor a hefty raise when Tx Tech came calling, perhaps FAU will do the same and keep their coach.
Yes, they did. And I wonder if it is having a negative impact on UTSA's other sports. It seems like all of the Runners other sports are struggling mightily. I can't think of a single sport other than football that UTSA has been competitive in this season.
That's because UNT only plays women's sports otherwise you'd know they're doing pretty well in baseball.

I don't have time to respond to this nonsense right now. I'm getting ready to watch UNT's men's basketball team play in the second round of the NIT.

UTSA baseball is 18-3, 3-0 in C-USA, and on a 10-game winning streak.

It may well just be due to the better AAC teams leaving for the B12. As for Wichita State and Temple, their previous winning ways were attributable to a single coach in both cases. No reason to believe that being one good hire away from returning to their winning ways any more than that is true of any school.
#1, Tulane was third in the league this year, before schools are leaving. They finished ahead of Cincinnati and made the AAC semis for the second-straight year.
Tulane athletics has been on the upswing since they drastically renovated their basketball arena and built an on-campus football stadium. They've increased their spending A LOT. Like hiring Ron Hunter (who took Georgia State to the Sweet 16).
#2 - Virtually NO conference has had the expectations of fans in MBB NCAA bids that fans have had when realignment moves happen.
Because conference play is a zero sum game. Eleven teams playing 18 conference games are going 99-99 in conference play combined.
Your middle team is gonna be .500 in conference and the group above them will play each other. 1st place will have the best results vs the group, the bottom of that group will have a bad record vs the group (aka, not enough marquee in-conference wins to get a bid) in a conference like that.

And back to the original topic, today’s scores from the “C-USA-5” were:
Rice 84 Duquesne 78 (CBI)
UAB 77 Morehead State 59 (NIT)
North Texas 75 Sam Houston State 55 (NIT)
FAU plays tonight.
Rice and Charlotte both play again tomorrow.
The five programs are now a combined 7-0. This is remarkable.

If FAU gets past Super-Cinderella FDU tonight then FAU, UAB and UNT will have won two games each getting to the S16 and the NIT Quarterfinals [8 teams] in Vegas respectively. Not too damn shabby for the AAC newbies...

Thanks but I'll leave my continued moral support at the door out.
Seriously though, take up the torch and keep the league strong.

And FAU prevails 78-70. This group moves to 8-0, but the road ahead is more challenging.
Today (CBI): Rice vs Southern Utah, Charlotte vs Milwaukee.
Tuesday (NIT): North Texas at Oklahoma State
Wednesday (NIT): UAB at Vanderbilt
Thursday (NCAA): FAU vs Tennessee

The Charlotte vs. Milwaukee game seemingly is Tuesday. Regardless, the five future AAC programs are undefeated in three tourneys. Well done.

I wouldn't be surprised if FAU's coach was picked up by a power school at the end of the season.

AAC hoops has gone downhill over the ten years of the league's existence. It is amazing to me that ten years ago, there was a split opinion about whether the AAC or the New Big East would be better in hoops. The NBE has been better every single year.
And now, we're losing Houston and adding the big pile of CUSA teams which will IMO make it even weaker.
But we'll see.
It's weird how the AAC never lived up to its hoops potential during that 10 year span. Looking at this grouping of teams, they should've been good:
Cincinnati
Memphis
Wichita State
Houston
Temple
UConn
That was a very strong conference.
