I can see why Fox is fighting tooth n nail over making sure that they get their inventory.
Surprised they gave UH/UC/BYU home games against Texas and OU. I would have thought they would give those to the R8. Despite the talk, UH is the least objectionable road game. Texas gets to play in Houston. I believe OU has played at Cincinnati before and BYU was P5 in all but conference membership.

I am too. The existing members had the leverage to get one last home games vs. both of the two are if they are in for 2 more years and one or other if just next year. It is not what Texas and Oklahoma (who would then have a lot of home games vs the newbies) or the 4 incomers would want, but think the 8 could have if pushed. Probably a good sign for relationships they didnt.

If they wanted, Texas and OU could have been scheduled to play only the R8. You skip 4 schools and they could have set it up so those two skip the newbies. instead, they more or less set up 3 pods + BYU---old SWC, old Big 8, old Big East/AAC with UH in two of those pods.

Kansas St not pushing for a final home vs Oklahoma was a huge WTF.

I notice that Texas and Oklahoma have the same bye week, but it isn't the week before the RRS. It's the week after. Wonder if that was deliberate on the part of the B12.

An easy fix would have been to send Oklahoma to Kansas State (instead of BYU) and Houston to BYU (instead of Kansas State). Admittedly, there would have been more dominoes to rearrange to make the weeks align properly - but I'm sure it could have worked.
May be ESPN or FOX really want Oklahoma to play in the 10pm ET window!

I’m not too optimistic about the Bearcats and their new coaching staff against that schedule. I see a 4-8 (2-7) season in our Big 12 debut.

That linked blog post is off on a couple of fronts:
(1) It's linking to the Dennis Dodd report and Tweet about the Big 12 meeting from yesterday that we have already been discussing at length, so it has nothing to do with today's meeting; and
(2) That report stated that the Big 12 rejected the initial offer from UT and OU to leave in 2024 as opposed to the other way around.
