A lot of the delay was OUT and B12 working on an agreement to possibly leave before next season. It never materialized, but both sides would have preferred to have made a deal if one could have been reached that benefitted both sides. There were also rumors that OUT were making demands that they weren’t playing the nB12 teams if they stayed that could have complicated schedule making, situations that would have taken more time to iron out.

My guess is that the delay was partially because they were concentrating on the new media deal, but there is nothing to substantiate my theory. Last year, B12 released its schedule in December 1st, and it makes sense that the time spent writing schedules was spent discussing contracts. I would also guess that since the conference has a new format (not round-robin) it took longer to write as well, and they probably had to weigh opinions about which teams wanted to play with each other, and who doesn’t play OUT in what is very likely their last season in the conference.

When the SEC announced it's '23 schedule there was no room for them to leave early for this coming season. It was always about '24, and best believe the delay was making sure it was "fair" to everyone. As much as people/fans of the big12 are saying good riddance, they all want one more last crack at UT or ou.

Hype Video! Get excited!

Rumored UCF opponents home/away

Highlight: The Dillon Gabriel game, UCF @ Oklahoma.

A little disappointed if this is true. Basically only 3 novel home games next year.

Get use to it

It'll be at Houston's on-campus stadium and college football will be better for it.

lol..yeah much better.. I get why UH fans want it at their stadium.. Probably the last time UT ever plays there.. but they are gonna leave a lot of money on the table.. I think the UT alumni associations outnumbers UH football fans in the Houston Area..

I'll be watching from the couch in Texas City if it's not at NRG

Houston will be doing what's best for Houston, not a random person on the internet thinking they're entitled to Houston doing what's best for Texas.

Good for Houston.

Funny that those same bleachers were good enough for the 2002 Winter Olympics. It's also funny that you're complaining about the possibility of it not being at NRG when if it were in Austin, you'd tell us to shut up and show up. In other words, you're a hypocrite. That's okay. Stay home then.

Also, you might schedule differently if they were leaving in 2024 than if they were leaving in 2025. But it sounds like its still not settled. Everybody wants it settled but Fox.

Well Cougar Highed it and they got condemned by the city just days before the game. So either UH was incompetent or the Olympics got lucky. i'll go with incompetent. The administrative side of UH has always stunk.

I imagine it will be a more pleasant experience for those in attendance with him staying home.

I wonder how many people involved in the 2002 incident are even still involved. My guess is those people are long gone. Not really relevant to his entitlement of where the 2023 game should be played.

lol yeah those weren't the same bleachers.. but don't take my word for it

https://www.chron.com/sports/college-foo...071665.php

But to their credit, they have actual seats now... BTW if the chairs/temporary seating at DKR never got a certification before the game that it could handle the weight.. it would have been a bigger story. Although if they had moved those fans to Erwin Center to watch the game like UH offered, it probably would have been a better experience than watching it from the coog gym.

But I'm a hypocrite.. too bad UT doesn't do temp seats when a "blueblood" visits Austin... we just turn off the AC in the locker room per Coach Ogre

Our administration has gotten a hell of a lot better. Trust me on this. Also, if I'm not mistaken, y'all made fun of us when our live mascot had to have part of her paw amputated because it got caught in the cage she was housed in by making a sign we took from y'all and made our own. We've never forgotten about that. (But we'll also settle for the sign below.)

I was supposed to be there but I couldn't come in that weekend (was still deployed in the Marines).. however my brother, mom and step dad were there and were offered seats at the coog gym since the seats were determined to be unsafe. They of course declined the awesome experience of watching a football game on the TV from a gym...

..and it took like 3/4 months to finally get a refund on those tickets. It was a long time ago but people still remember.. if they didn't how many times you think the schools would have faced off since then? Perhaps that was the reason why UT just told UH to take the money for the Herman hire rather than schedule home and home games?

This is why this game @Houston needs to happen. It is appointment television.

I can feel the seething from both sides through my monitor.

Funny that those same bleachers were good enough for the 2002 Winter Olympics. It's also funny that you're complaining about the possibility of it not being at NRG when if it were in Austin, you'd tell us to shut up and show up. In other words, you're a hypocrite. That's okay. Stay home then.

Well Cougar Highed it and they got condemned by the city just days before the game. So either UH was incompetent or the Olympics got lucky. i'll go with incompetent. The administrative side of UH has always stunk.

This is why this game @Houston needs to happen. It is appointment television.

I can feel the seething from both sides through my monitor.

yeah it's must see.. til the astros play later that day or if the rockets are playing with it's shiny new player from the draft..

Again, you can always stay home. (And yes, you are a hypocrite. You feel entitled because of something that happened twenty years ago. Then again, your fan base, and I mean the t-shirt fans, not the actual alumni, though some are the same way, have always looked down upon us as invalids, hence the "invalid cougar paw" I mentioned that we took and gave you back when we shut you out in Austin, prompting DKR to retire, hence all the "Cougar High" bullcrap, hence the overall sense of entitlement. Yeah, we made a mistake with the bleacher thing, but we had just renovated our previous stadium and were proud of it! So yeah, we wanted it on campus. Big whoop! The truth of the matter is whenever UH or another school in the SWC would start to overshadow you, you'd play dirty, and it was your sense of 'blue blood' entitlement that ultimately led to the dissolution of the SWC. Heck, A&M wanted to get away from you so badly they killed y'all's rivalry game. Yet we're the jerks? Nah. That's bullcrap. Oh, and we can actually expand our stadium permanently to 60,000 if need be. Is that big enough for ya? Nah, probably not, because "it's on UH's campus". Well, too darn bad. You can either keep complaining about the past or man up and set foot on our campus and watch the darn game. The choice is yours, hoss.)

lol yes please tell us how entitled we are... what's going to be delicious to read on twitter is after we exit, is to see opposing fanbases see coogs in their element.. talking big with nothing to show for it.. they sit in the largest city in the conference and will always be treated as #4 in CFB in their own city.... 40k stadium.. that will still host schools like BYU, Tech and even ISU (schools who travel) at NRG rather than their Galena Park High school stadium of theirs.

Luckily Timan seen the writing a long time ago and has put his landry gift cards into the basketball program.

Careful, your Aggie is showing.04-cheers
Sure Khator is good, but she has a lot of garbage in the ranks. Had a friend apply to UH MBA program early 2000s. He got denied. Why? Because UH couldn't get his undergraduate transcript across campus. Everything else was there. They said they would forward his paperwork to next year. No apology. He told them to take a hike and went to HBU. it was the same with endangering people's lives with those bleachers. And then they had the nerve to offer the Texas people, at FULL price, to watch the game in the Cougar gym.

The administration has always been Cougar High. And that name probably came from the locals, much the way the Dallas County Community College District was called 13th grade.
