RE: ASUN Football and WAC Football announce conference governance plan
I think WAC/ASUN and C-USA should make a deal for a merger to a point in the future to split to form a WAC FBS conference and C-USA FBS, and split down the Mississippi river line.
CUSA/WAC/.ASUN West:
Tarleton State
SFAU
UCA
La Tech
UTEP
New Mexico State
Sam Houston State
Dallas Baptist baseball
Tulane beach volleyball
Utah Valley
Utah Tech FCS football
Southern Utah FCS football
EAST:
EKU
UNA
FIU
Mid. Tennessee State
WKU
Jacksonville State
Liberty
Kennesaw State
Future split:WAC FBS
Tarleton State
SFAU
UCA
La Tech
UTEP
New Mexico State
Sam Houston State
Dallas Baptist baseball
Tulane beach volleyball
Utah Valley
ACU
McNeese State
Lamar
Utah Tech?
Southern Utah?
Texas State Texas State might jump since they would not be on an island in the SBC.
Missouri State ?
Arkansas State?
Central Oklahoma if they do make the move to D1.
C-USA:
EKU
UNA
FIU
Mid. Tennessee State
WKU
Jacksonville State
Liberty
Kennesaw State
Austin peay State
North Florida if they start football
Chattanooga
Jackson State
NC A&T
Youngstown State
Florida A&M?
If Arkansas State and Texas State do move in the future? Delaware and either Tennessee State or East Tennessee State could be 13 and 14.

Both Sam and Bryan's updates here line up with what I've been hearing for a while.
Basically, the 'move to FBS' part of this is very much more driven by APU, EKU and TSU than it is everybody else....and a lot of people outside of the WAC/ASUN do nnot want this to happen
What I don't understand is APSU announcing the FBS goal. They have never acted like they wanted FBS in the past, why now?
It wasn't long ago they had non scholarship football. I'm not hating on the Governors, just trying to figure out their thinking.
Of course, My school, UNA is thinking long term FBS, but realistically not in the next few years. UNA and APSU are very similar schools in terms of size and budget, they are actually peer institutions.
I think the loss of JSU, after they came out of the same conference to join another, got people butt hurt and this is happening.
Side note..... and Matt Brown could do some investigating, I'm hearing the ASUN will announce up to 4 more new schools around the same time the new commissioner actually starts, and all have football.
D-2 or existing FCS? If the latter, it would seem like the death knell for either the OVC or the MEAC.

That doesn't line up with anything I've heard over the last month, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening. I do know for a fact that the ASUN has had conversations with some schools that do *not* have football.
