Another day. Another game. Same result. Out coached down the stretch badly and lose another close one. The new AD will have a lot of decisions to make.

I don’t know how much longer we have to pay Shay but we can’t even entertain firing Oliver anytime soon with that hanging over our heads. He’s on a 5 year deal. Just have to hope he figures things out because he’s not going anywhere.

And, sadly, in both football and basketball we are just a coach away from winning a conference championship.

And two of those wins were Averett and Milligan. (Of course one was also Ga. Tech.) Ended 24-12. We don't have a Steve Forbes on the sideline this year, but my point, obviously (I hope), is that sometimes things look worse than they are. I seriously doubt this team will win 24 games, but should be north of 10. But we need to "gel" pretty quickly here - preferably before conference games. That 2015-2016 team, altho possessing weaknesses, also had some guys who proved to be high-level studs. Can some guys on this team raise their game? Actually, more importantly, can we do that gel thing?

There's enough talent for this team to win 16+ games; there's also enough uncertainty and lack of confidence to lose 16+ games.

I’ve looked through the 2015-16 season records and they looked nothing like that. Started 7-1 with several impressive victories. I didn’t find Milligan or Asheville on the schedule. Am I missing something?

Hmmmm...... I must have a typo on the year. Don't have time to dig back in right at the moment. See what year Ga. Tech game was, if you have time.

[edit: Best I can tell, my original post is accurate, at least according to sports-reference.com. Beat Ga. Tech 11-22-15.]

In fact, here's the thread from that game:

2015 Ga. Tech game thread

So........sure enough 2015, thus 2015-2016 season. And that was 2 days after we were obliterated by 'nova.

King 2-9, 0-5 from 3. Needs to ride the pine for a while. Queens looks like an organized, well coached and hungry team. We look the opposite.
I would agree in terms of shot selection. I wouldn't agree for ball handling; if those duties were handled exclusively by Strothers and Tipler right now, we'd have more turnovers. Not sure about defensively, but my sense is King is the best defensive option in the guard category.

Frustrating. Too many wasted possessions, mostly due to poor shot selection. King is the worst violator, but Tipler had a couple, too.
What I would term 50/50 balls seem to be 90 (opponent)/10 (Bucs) balls with this team; I just didn't see the desire last night to get those balls. I wouldn't be surprised if the rebound differential was mostly made up of rebounds that a Buc just could not secure.
On the positive side, single-digit turnovers is good. Haynes had a tough night, but I saw effort. I like Taylor and Smith offensively. Seymour seems to stick his nose in and get balls.
I think the talent is there to win. If you've the players to win, but you're not, who's that reside with? Coach, you got to find a way to put these pieces together.

If the talent is there to win, then this coach does not know what the hell he’s doing.

All those missed threes are as bad as turnovers. We could use a PG like Petey McClain that handled the ball well, looked to help his teammates do the scoring and played solid defense. Perhaps we don’t have the talent and just need to hope and pray enough of King’s shots go in to tip the balance. So far that hasn’t happened yet.

The fundamentals seem amiss. Way too many occasions where players are driving to the basket soliciting fouls instead of baskets. I see Justice Smith coming alive, but he still needs to work on his turnovers.

Justice Smith is the best guard on the team yet he comes off the bench. He has a good touch and really good size for a guard. Coach has said that he wants Smith to improve his defense but it seems like he has gotten much more comfortable as his playing time has increased.

Last night I was thinking about how Chattanooga had several down years while we were thriving with Forbes.

It took Lamont Paris essentially 3 years before he started to build a contender in the SoCon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamont_Paris)

I’m not trying to give you a hard time at all. I just I’m trying to find it. I checked seasons 2014 through 2018 and can’t find anything like that. Could you be remembering the Bartow era?

I know you're being sincere, but what's wrong with this?:

ETSU hoops schedule, record, players, etc., for 2015-2016

Shows us 4-5 after the loss to UNC-A Dec. 15, 2015 - etc., etc. Then ended 24-12.

I must be totally lost. This is what I find when I look up the same season:
