Excluding UVA, Week 14 there are going to be 2 other FBS teams 2 hrs apart in Virginia with only 11 games….

Bet many Tech fans in a way are relieved. They weren't going to be bowl eligible, and outside this tragedy, it was a year where UVA seemed likely to win.

Love that idea, if we could get all parties to agree. Heck, get ESPN to sponsor, air the contest and kick in some money too if possible. It could be a compelling story/tribute if done right.

VT losing to JMU is worse than losing to UVA so 1 percent chance to zero percent

The Tech fans that I work with are actually really relieved. They ended the season with a win against Liberty (tbh a team they didn't think they would beat). So to end the season with a W after the struggles of this season was a nice ending.
As for VT/JMU @ UVA... There's zero benefit for VT to play us right now. They would not be favored and we would crush them. Obviously we want that game, but I don't see any reason why VT would want to be on the same field as us right now.
While the idea is nice, there would be little interest for that game in Charlottesville. Their biggest rival, so there's no way they are cheering for them. I definitely don't see them cheering for us either, especially since we are playing them in their next home game.

All of that makes sense to me. VT has also told their fanbase the season is done, so agree the odds of them scheduling another game seem slim to none.

The only team that would benefit from a P5 game is Coastal, because it *might* help them slip into the NY6, and it might help their ranking when it's all said and done.

Kind of a moot point if we beat them, because they'll be back on the outside looking in.

I honestly don't think beating a 3-8 P5 would help them much.

ODU, another 3-8 G5 team beat VT, so I can't see the ranking committee being more impressed with that win than beating JMU. Guess it could be the difference in a win vs a loss for Coastal, but other than that its not impressive at all.

I think it’s a moot point, because the NY6 slot is going to an AAC team anyway.

Horrible situation, they lost 3 teammates and their last two games of the season, but didn’t see this coming:

Tragic situation no doubt but a dumb ruling. So, should any player that missed their last 2 games, due to an injury, of their final year of eligibility get an extra year?

I think it's a good ruling. Shows empathy and is pro athlete.

Good to see. I'd hate to see a kid's football career abruptly end in that manner.

Wonder if that allows them to be over 85 schollies for next year?

Seems like this is more a show of compassion by NCAA but I’m not sure it will actually affect that many players.

That is a BS ruling. Got to separate the compassion from what makes sense.

They missed 2 games of what with COVID year became a possible 6 years of eligibility.

If a player missed 2 games bc of say injury they are not getting a medical redshirt and an extra year.

Poor decision by the NCAA.
