Interestingly enough, Bates didn't play in the season opener vs. Wayne State due to the coach suspending him for the gun charges.

You are exactly right. Nobody else was going to be able to score. You can't do that when there are other very good options to score on your team. The shots are a lot harder to make when there are major repercussions when you don't make them.

That is just it. Also, the coach and teammates at a high major are not going to tolerate horrific and selfish shot selection.

In all reality it looks like Bates is right where he should be at. A team where there is a significant talent drop from him to the next player and teammates that are willing to recognize that. That was never going to be the case at Memphis or any other major program where half the team would believe they are as good or better than him. This really does appear to have been a good move for both Memphis and Emoni.

Coaches may say what coaches tend to say.
Fans say whatever.
But when a player talks about chemistry, it can be an eye-opener.
