Some others missed a few FTs giving Army a chance to tie at the end but Bre Bellamy blocked the desperation buzzer beater.

Tribe took 3 of 4 against Army/Navy Men’s/Women’s. Take on Richmond next, at Kaplan.

Dani McTeer better return from injury soon or she won’t have a job. Rebekah Frisby-Smith and Caitlyn Wingertzahn have both been playing well.

Riley Casey's 31 points, including 6/9 from beyond the arc was nothing to sneeze at.

No, of course not....but she also scored 31 in her last game and I’m getting spoiled and taking it for granted expecting big games from her. She’s really a great player and we’re fortunate to get two grad years from her!

RE: 22-23 Women's Basketball Season.
Saw something today that I’ve never seen before. Richmond shot 3 free throws before the opening tip; they made 2 of them. Apparently W&M made an “administrative violation” by not getting their lineup turned in by the 10 minutes before gametime time limit. So UR got to shoot 3 technicals. Since the Tribe lost by 12 anyway, I guess it didn’t affect the outcome.

W&M had a 12 point lead in the second quarter and the game looked like a blowout. Then UR scored 10 straight and never looked back. Wagner had a great game with 26 points but Casey could never get it going. The Tribe really needs to get a consistent third scorer. Richmond has won 4 in a row in the series.

From the flow of the game, it looks like we had trouble handling pressure.

One problem for both our basketball teams is that it is hard to practice for pressure if your subs aren’t athletic enough to simulate it in practice.

Do like Bruce Park Hill did, preparing for NC, put 5 against 6-7!

RE: 22-23 Women's Basketball Season.
Tribe loses to JMU by 15 today. JMU's 23 offensive rebounds (to W&M's 5) was the difference. Caitlin Wingertzahn led the way with 18 points and stuffed the stat sheet. She looks more confident every game. She and Madison Magee should swap their starting/bench roles.

Riley Casey had only 7 points and Sydney Wagner had only 9. Hard to win when those two are shut down.

Wagner is not the same player she was last year. Can't help but think that shearing all of her hair off, like Samson, is what caused the downturn. Unfortunately, she cannot grow it back fast enough to help this year...hopefully she finds her stroke even with short hair.

Tribe women go on the road and win by 10 at Longwood. Haven’t won there in a while.

Women lose 89-61 despite trailing by only 4 at halftime. The only bright spot was the return of Kayla Beckwith.

RE: 22-23 Women's Basketball Season.
A 14 point loss yesterday to Northeastern which was tough to watch. The Tribe led all of the first half until the buzzer when NE hit a trey to go up by 1. Then we completely fell apart in the third period, which is becoming a recent trend. The Huskies went into run-and-gun mode and the Tribe couldn’t keep up. The Huskies went into full court press and we looked like we had never seen such a thing before. We actually fell behind by more than 20 until our reserves proved that they are a lot better than NE’s reserves and closed the final gap to 14.

I think the team is a lot better than they have looked recently. I attribute it to a tough schedule stretch where we played 4 straight road games (2 in the CAA) over two holiday weekends. We’re back at home now and I expect to see better results this week.

It will take a year or two for the new coach to reload the roster with players that fit her system/style.

Unless she gets waylaid by "4 first years"...

This is one of the best responses in the history of these message boards. Somehow, I don't think we'll ever hear the women's coach say something so ridiculous.

It's a reference to Coach Fischer claiming each of his 4 seasons has felt like his 1st year.

Nice win today, 81-67, over Charleston. Set a Women’s Kaplan record for made 3-pointers with 14. Riley Casey had 31 (third time this year). Alex Mikeska is a rising star…lots of energy, lots of rebounds, lots of steals, and handles the press well. Just wish Andrew Phillips would learn to pronounce her name — he couldn’t decide whether it was mi-kes-ka, mi-kosh-ka, or mi-kos-ka.

Think our men's team can get the same result against CoC?
