I think this may be the saddest post I have ever seen on csnbbs. But it encapsulates the values of the lowly Sun Belt just about perfectly.
Let's see. Tulane alumni include one Supreme Court Justice, five Pulitzer Prize winners, two Nobel Prize winners, a cardinal, the dude who founded Yahoo and the chick who's the head of NOW (and Diaper Dave Vitter, but they can't all be winners).
Troy alumni include two different winners of Survivor.

And those are all great things! But when someone brings them up on a sports message board, it's a pretty good indicator that their on field history (and their future) isn't as hot as they're saying it is.
My mother graduated from Tulane and was sweetheart for one of the fraternities there. I lived in New Orleans many years ago and most of my family on my mother's side still lives there. Nothing but respect for Tulane as a university. They are one of the most prestigious institutions in America. But let's not act like they have a tradition rich history regarding football in the state of Louisiana.
As for Troy, I'm well aware of their status in the pecking order of scholarly universities. But frankly I don't care. I make good money as a developer and whatever accolades Troy does or doesn't have means nothing to me. So good luck shaming me on that, because academics are not why I follow athletics.

Please. Tulane brought us the winner of Big Brother 14 and Jerry Springer.

Plz tell me when Alito and those other nerds mentioned are going to line up on the football field to help Tulane defeat their arch nemesis USM, which is Would be a good reason to bring them up on college sports nation bulletin board system.

Did that cardinal you mention play football? If so that's pretty cool.

USM has Mr. Parrothead himself...he's a little short but could probably take Alito down.

Tulane is 3-1 and still can make a run for the AAC chip game. They also received a number of votes in the AP Poll despite the loss. Southern Miss? Not so much. Again, great game for them but life will go on for Tulane and the AAC.
Exactly, I’ve been saying the same thing. This was probably the biggest win in that school’s history. Beating a team from the AAC was their super bowl. For us, yes the loss does not feel good but all of our goals are still within reach. We will be just fine.
This man has obviously not followed football for more than 10 years.

Yeah, really. If you think USM beating Tulane is the biggest win in program history, you know very little about the history of college football and USM. That is one of the most ignorant statements I've read on these boards in awhile. Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut and just take the L.
Oh btw, they have like a 24-8 record all time against Tulane.

Troy would at best consider this a lateral move for them and a upgrade for UAB.

I think people see the 2-2 record and forget that the record includes:
- a loss by 2 in OT to a Liberty team that took a ranked WF to the wire
- a rough loss to Miami (FL), who have high end talent everywhere
- a 3 pt win vs a team that has road wins against KSU and Houston
- a 50 point FCS blasting
I look at that schedule coming up and see 8-4. It's actually not a bad 2-2.

I could absolutely care less what USM or Troy fans think. They can use their degree to get a job pumping our gas. Certainly it doesn’t qualify them to investigate Brett favre or run any sort of investments in their states. [/u]

Yea.. I use my degree to build America.. Sorry that pumping gas is a lofty goal at Tulane.
