Somebody lied? No! It was a collegiate sporting event between 2 big time schools that certainly was being recorded, if not also broadcast, and almost 6000 people were there so somebody has to have something recorded on a cellphone. I’m sure the evidence will surface soon enough…07-coffee3

It was already exhaustively researched and analyzed and was found to be unfounded (aka --> a lie).

BYU has revoke permanently expelling a fan who they labeled immediately as a racist.
I know that, sarcasm doesn’t always come across in written word. Juicy headlines sell and all people remember is that BYU and their students are racist. Except it didn’t happen and the fan in question isn’t a BYU student and some reports said he has some developmental disability issues. Where is the outrage on making false accusations towards somebody with those issues? Guess it’s not juicy enough to sell.

My fault.....did not pick up on the sarcasm, it is a monday afterall :)

But I agree with your sentiment, it seems to me falsely labeling someone a racist in 2022 should be a big deal and that false accusers should suffer some punishment. Once it is out there, you can't really take it back.

News is slanted, so you have to have critical thinking skills. I assume people have critical thinking skills until they prove that they don’t. I don’t know anyone screaming about BYU being racist. I guess there’s more out there than just what I interact with daily, but it always seems suspicious to me when people tell me there’s a boogeyman out there that I’ve never experienced personally.

It was covered pretty extensively by espn and other major outlets for a week b/c it juicy news.....and led to cancelling of one high profile out of conference game for BYU. So yeah it is kind of a big deal.....espn and major news outlets don't cover it for a week when proven to be unfounded (it is a footnote then) and the OOC game/contract does not get fixed.....it is simply lost reputation and revenue from a blatant lie. And nothing more it done, the kid who lied receives zero punishment.

It appears 405 isn't the only section with whiners.

I hate to inundate your bubble with facts, but it was covered this afternoon on CNN, on air and in print. No punditry or over analysis, just covered the story with the facts of the situation.

It's okay to be skeptical about the news you hear. It's cynicism that is unhealthy.

Or only being skeptical towards the news that isn't saying what you want to hear. Of course I don't know if that's the case for anyone here but it's extremely common in general. Some people won't trust a single word from CNN but believe everything they hear on Fox News or from certain politicians. Others will scream about how Fox News isn't real news but will believe everything they hear on MSNBC or from other certain politicians.

Always a bad sign when someone is very trusting of any political party or any one particular news source. None of them are perfect and very few try to be.

Yikes. You know, mormons are weird, but they're generally pretty nice, and that's just not appropriate.

I mean, I could get behind a "magic undies", or "y'all need caffeine" chant or something, something harmless but poking fun at them, but F- the mormons is just - what's the point?

I don't think there should ever be any question about the $$$ being more important than anything else in the Big 10.
