Beer and concession lines behind Section 210 were much better on this past Saturday than against MTSU. DO not know what the difference was as the crowd size seemed similar from what I could see.

Still, it seems like they ought not to have to truck in kids from Staunton when there are plenty in H’burg. And when the kids are new to the register, etc., they’re slower.

As a high school kid, I hawked sodas at Lane Stadium in the other Burg. Gotta be some locals around…

I yield the floor on this topic!

Concessions at the stadium are open on a first come basis to any/all local organizations. A lot HS kids do concessions and college games

Hmmm ... wonder if that leads to some variation week to week. Hard to have consistent results if there are new kids working every week.

Of course it does. Back in the early days of the Crown Club we did concessions for the first game of the season (usually happened before students were back and organized). We had the stand near the north end zone (not there any more) and it was the only stand where students could use their JAC cards. We used to ask the students to let us know when JMU had scored so we could brace ourselves for the cannon shot. We were always too busy to pay attention to the game. It was a lot of fun and we made a ton of money but it was a LOT of work. A few years later JMU/Aramark changed the commission percentage and we just decided it was too much work for what we could make. Still a lot of good memories there.

But back to the question or point above.....it takes a while to get into a good rhythm and learn where everything is. I am not sure if Aramark has tried to hire folks (students and others) to just work concessions, sort of like RMC Events hires folks just to usher the games. Might be worth a shot...

I’ve noticed the Mary Baldwin baseball kids working last season and are back again this season. I’ve had no issues when placing orders.

I’ve actually had little trouble either game, but was thinking with respect to the lines that were mentioned at MTSU it’s possible kids working an area for the first time might be a little bit slower or less familiar with the process, etc. if it’s the same group every week then that should help.

RE: BFS Alcohol Sales
This past game the holdups I noticed were with the customers ordering and not those working the registers. Numerous people in front of me ordered and walked away without getting all of their orders and then the register workers were yelling to them to come back, etc…
