RE: MAAC Could Decide For The Number 12 School To Add This Year

But yeah, I agree...their lax fits right now in the MAAC.
Why didn't the MAAC take Merrimack lacrosse in, then?
Re: Le Moyne, maybe the MAAC is just waiting for the NEC to break them in (i.e., to transition them to D1) before inviting them. I suppose that could also explain why they didn't take Merrimack lacrosse, since they won't be full D1 until next season. But it's not like they're short on qualifying members.

Merrimack prefers the AE. Not a secret. Hockey East member in the AE, and fits the footprint way better. Merrimack actually said NO to MAAC lacrosse. They were wanted. And I have that DIRECTLY from the coaching staff.

I think they want a spot in the A10. This at least keeps them up closer to Siena.
Definitely a positioning ploy by Iona--very much discussed in Lax circles right now. However, neither SIENA or Iona are going to the A-10. They are both financially strung up right now. Siena at least has the arena for it. This is all because the MAAC has publicly stated that they would like to increase the profile of Lax for the league as it sits smack dab in the heart of lax country.
From Iona's perspective, it will bring in around 1.3-1.6 million in yearly, and dearly needed, revenue if you calculate around 38k per student.
The MAAC will jettison LIU, Sacred Heart, and Wagner in 2024 from the lax league, bringing them back down to 7, and they will likely add a 12th all-sport team. With Iona coming in for lax in 2025, that gives the league 8 teams...and the 12th team will bring in a 9th team. It is the perfect amount of teams to give you 8 games and 6-7 OOC games.
Le Moyne does have LAX. The only school in the NEC that have LAX without football is Saint Joseph's.

As for St. Joes, they are NOT in the MAAC--they are in the A-10 lacrosse league.
Maybe he/she means St. Francis. Agree on St. Joseph's. Only St. Joe's I know of is located in Philadelphia and a member of the A10. That's not to say that there aren't any other "St. Joseph's". I'm just not familiar with them.

100% positive that he meant St. Joes. St Joes was in the NEC for lax and neither St. Francis schools have lax for Men. So, he posted without research, throwing stuff at a wall hoping it would stick.

RE: MAAC Could Decide For The Number 12 School To Add This Year
There’s a St. Joseph’s New York (SJNY) with Brooklyn and LI campuses that compete separately in the Division III Skyline Conference. There’s no way the MAAC is talking to them. My guess is that the presidents probably decide to keep the conference at 11 members unless a more enticing option shakes loose, either somebody that will get them into a bigger market (like more of New England) or somebody who’s open to a more geographically sensible conference.
