Pick whatever year you want. I picked 2014. Memphis has the most wins over the last eight years. Cincinnati has the most since 2018. UCF has the most since 2015 (I think).

We also have the most Western Division championships.

Right. Regardless of what year you pick the top 4 is the same. Its UCF, Cincy, Memphis, and UH in some order. That's part of why the three schools that are leaving were able to do so and probably why Memphis won't be in the league in 5 years.

The 2018 UConn football team accomplished things on the football field that did not seem humanly possible. They set FBS records for most yards allowed per game (617.4), shattering the mark previously set by Kansas in 2015 (560.83). They also set the FBS record for average points scored against at 50.42. In fact, only two of its opponents failed to score 45 or more points. Shame on you UMass and USF! Its lone victory of the season came in a barn burner against fellow FCS team Rhode Island with UConn pulling it out 56-49. The 2018 UConn football squad is undoubtedly the best football team to ever take the field for the American (wrong answers only reply).

Would it have helped if I had said most football wins of all the teams in the conference?

Completely different styles so it's tough for me to honestly evaluate head to head.

NFL talent is the deal breaker for me. But you know we're probably both wrong and the true measure is how many points you put up against a bad UNC team.
Yeah I'm an ECU fan to the core but there's no comparison to the top UCF and Cincinnati teams. An ugly truth is that for the most part when we were dominating those ACC schools they were at low points.

#4 - 2020 Cincy - Undefeated in AAC, heartbreaker lost to UGA
#5 - 2015 Houston - Good bowl win against FSU, headscratcher loss to UConn

Great list. Personally, I'd swap #1 and #2. Think UCF was magical that year. The 2013 UCF has the most impressive resume, but they were the "heart attack" nights for all the close calls they pulled out.

Absolutely amazing. All the "What if's" and "Shoulda Beens" in the world can't quite express the loss that he represented for UCF.

Defensive players are harder to quantify. I know that the Coog fans are going to point out D'Eric King, but I don't think he ever fully realized his potential at Houston. You can also make a case for Zaven Collins from Tulsa, where he was the absolute anchor of the Tulsa D. As a unit, the 2021-2022 Cincinnati Defensive unit was incredible with Sauce Gardner as a standout on a absolutely beastly unit.

Was the 2017-18 UCF or the 2021-2022 UC squad the best? Hard to determine because, they of course, cannot play each other.

Greg Ward was way better than D'Eriq King IMO.

It's sad that it seems the 2016 Houston team not even in the discussion. I wouldn't rank them #1 obviously with 4 losses, but this is a team that spanked two top 5 teams in the same season. What a weird season that was - I really think on talent alone that team is top 5.

last year's UC team had so much pressure on it. week in and out - did it win by enough - did it get style points each week - winning just wasn't enough - they were most opponent's "super bowl" - IU might've been down last year, but, I was there, and the IU crowd was jacked early - IU needed that game to save its season - ND? they don't lose much, much less get mauled, at home. UC had the experience last year (it still has the talent) , but it also had a tremendous amount of grit and willpower. so, i vote for UC

Its all good brother. I think it was just how I read line "most footbal wins in the conference". My brain interpreted that to mean most conference wins.

I'm really not trying to fanboy this and get my school up there, but I'm not sure of 2015 Houston over 2018 UCF, for comparison:

UCF 2018:
Record: 12-1
Highest Ranking: No. 8
Losses (1): Against a greatly improving #11 LSU in the Sugar Bowl (40-32) vs. a QB named Joe Burrow that would go on to win the Heisman Trophy the next year before being the top pick in the NFL Draft. LSU would also win the National Championship the following season.
Top 25 Wins: Only No. 24 Cincy. The AAC was weak this year, but UCF blew out every team but Memphis.

Houston 2015
Record: 13-1
Highest Ranking: No. 18
Losses (1): In conference against a UConn team that finished 6-7 that year.
Top 25 Wins: 4 - against No. 21 Memphis, No. 15 Navy, No. 22 Temple, and No. 9 FSU. Plenty of blowouts but late season close calls against Cincy and Memphis before the UConn loss.

I guess it depends on what side of the coin you want to look at, Houston had better wins, UCF didn't have a horrible loss. I would argue that the 2018 UCF team would have beaten those lower level ranked teams as well. I'm not saying UCF was definitely better, but these two are certainly debatable.

RE: Best AAC football team ever. Only in the AAC period...
No mention of 2019 Memphis. Beat Cincy two weeks in a row to win the AAC. Their third consecutive AAC championship game. Beat Ole Miss that year holding them to 10 points with Coral as the QB. All that kept them from going undefeated was a terrible reversal call to end the game at Temple. We would have had a chip shot FG at the very least to win it with one of the best field goal kickers in the country.

People also forget we were only down 2 pts to Penn State well into the fourth qtr. The great Micah Parsons played in that game against us. We scored more points against them than any team they played all year. 39 vs Ohio State who scored 17.

Let's compare 2019 Memphis vs 2020 Cincinnati who played only 9 games with 7 of them at home. They canceled road games against Temple and Tulsa. They played nobody out of conference.

I'd put 2019 Memphis against 2020 Cincinnati any day of the week.
