Memphis seems likely the only AAC team to advance to the Big 12.
I would like to think that SDSU would get a chance however they might want a travel partner and the only university I can think of advancing with them is CSU. CSU is however good at everything except sports. That might be a problem.

If Notre Dame ever joins the ACC for football, a Navy FB addition could be very attractive and very simple to pull off...

Temple. But why, they’ve been so bad you say. Well, we won’t be bad forever. Mens hoops finished 4th in the American last year with a depleted team of freshman and sophomores. We will contend for the conference title this upcoming season. Football has been horrendous tor 3 years, but don’t forget Temple was in the top of the league for years before that, and we will get there again. So how does Temple move up?
1. B10 expands. They will want to keep pace with or surpass the SEC. They will expand with Virginia and GTech (these schools were both almost invited a few years ago)
2. SEC responds with Clemson and FSU.
3. ND leaves the ACC.
4. Temple, who has been playing lights out, is in perfect position geographically, academically, and athletically to fit in the ACC.

Quite frankly, Temple is most likely one of two top contenders for the ACC even without the scenario above.

I guess we are and we paid less to get there. I do wish the 3 moving on well. Hoping for continued success. And please, it's UConn not uConn. 4>2.

When you say contend for the conference title in basketball. You mean you’ll keep it within like 3 or 4 games in the loss column versus Houston?

I’m not even trying to be a homer here. But that’s just an absurd take.

If expansion stopped and no more dominos where falling, The AAC will most definitely be THE league to be a member of for any one program currently not in a P5.

Nothing's guaranteed, we wouldn't be the first team to flop from preseason expectations.

That said, I agree that it should be Houston and everyone else next season.

Agree that, if their FB & BB programs rise to the top of the American, they would be one of the stronger candidates for ACC expansion, due in part to being located in the middle of the ACC footprint, their history playing the former BE schools in the conference (Pitt, BC, Syracuse, Louisville, VT), and their large market (in PA and NJ).

Also, consider this:
  • The ACC could expand to 16 teams regardless of what ND and the B10 do.
    .
  • The Big 12 might lose 2-4 teams to the ACC (WVU), the Big 10 (Kansas), the SEC (Baylor, OK State - if the Big Ten were to take Missouri from the SEC), and/or the PAC-12 (Kansas, OK State).
    .
  • If raided, the Big 12 might opt to continue expand to the east, rather than west.
    .

How good or bad the team is or will be is a factor, but it is a business decision and how many eyes the team/school brings to TV contracts is a bigger factor. Hiw they potentially compete with teams in the P5 conference is also a factor (business competition as much or more than sports).

I could see SMU, Navy, USF and Memphis fitting in that category for a P5 conference in the future, or I could see none of them. It also depends on how desperate a conference may get to add heads.

Not absurd at all. Consider the facts: our best offensive player was injured and did not play any conference games last year and is returning. Injuries during the season last year hurt in the short term but provided experience to our younger players. Several of our key players were freshman and sophomores last year and are now experienced players. Is Houston the favorite to win the title? Of course. Are other teams, including Temple, going to contend? IMO yes they are.

*checks notes*

Sasser and Mark also missed the entire conference season. We won the conference and the conference tournament.

*checks notes again*

Sasser and Mark are back.

Again. Not trying to be a homer. But Houston may have the best team the AAC has ever seen next season.
