If that is not a typical Geoff Calkins view of this then I don't know what is.

Yep. “Hey you’re jealous of all my sweet sweet podcast and daily memphian money.”

I wonder what Keeper things of the posters on this board. I bet most of us are way better off financially than Calkins.

Lil John Martin is cut from the same cloth - but no one really takes him seriously.
They also like to say things like "Penny finally has the team playing just like we thought they would in the preseason".
It's a way to elevate themselves and take another shot at the program.
But the truth is that while we were on their top 10 preseason rankings, they were all thinking that Emoni would be the MVP and a college AA candidate.
So the reality is, the way Penny has the team playing is not at all like they thought in the preseason.

Some games, like East Carolina, had 5 absent players and all those losses had several missing players

Then the silly question to the head coach
And team wins on he road over a bad Tulsa team, Memphis still missing players

That was one win and they had to come back from way down to win it

Since then, was it a rally around the response to a stupid question? Or

Nolley, Williams, Lomax and Duren coming back?

I’ll go with having nearly full roster, Local radio hosts can think it was them

The facts seem to support this more than the team was good, bad, good, bad, and good again.
We struggled during the early season 4-game losing streak.
Most of those games were away, and we were trying to figure things out.
They righted the ship about the Bama game, but then lost significant players to injuries.
It's why Penny's response to Geoff originally was right on the money.
The turnaround had already started, some were just having a hard time seeing it.

What was the dudes name that was the griz writer? Ron something.

His first article was a dis of Penny who was still playing at that time. "It's time to retire this Penny," was the title if I am not mistaken.

Tiger hater Tillery? Yeah put him right there

Man that guy did not like the Tigers. I guess he could clearly see that the Tigers meant more to the city than the Grizz and he didn't care for that.

I remember him as a predictable SEC shill. That's why he hated the Tigers - they interfered with Old Miss, UTK, Arkinsaw attention.

Parish can't change a tire. Caulkins runs out of gas. I wonder if they can parallel park or balance a checkbook?

Ironic that they cover Men's sports.

Maybe they like the smell of locker rooms...

GP also was a "celebrity" in a local grilling contest. The sponsors provided all the supplies. They offered him hickory chips, and he piled them up and tried to light them as the single fuel source for the grill. One of the girls working the contest came up to him and suggested that he add some actual charcoal.

That alone is enough to break out the pitchforks and run him out of the city.

Reminds me of those old pace picante sauce commercials. “This picante sauce was made in New York City!”

Tillery just couldn't get over the fact that Tiger articles got so many more clicks than Grizz ones even when the Tigers weren't having great seasons.

If there is a Tiger Tillery Hater Club I'd like to join. He was a 100% grade A tool. Hopefully he moved. I used to email him job openings in other cities.

Not surprised. I imagine people like Fleming and Tillery who spread so much hate and venom are generally physically and mentally not well.

RE: Penny to Caulkins on the turn-around "Are you really going to take credit for this"
When the Tigers are doing well or have a big game coming up etc I try and listen to local radio

But it is still unbearable

680 actually started talking 1 minute after the hour which I thought was good, as I expected more commercials (maybe they play them for 8 minutes at the end of an hour but I started at the beginning)

But then they had internal banter, the one guy with that Karl Malone nails on a chalkboard accent and another guy who seemed like the main host but never introduced himself. At that point I don’t think it was Parrish because I recognize his voice, but he sounded kind of like him

The slobbering went on for 7 minutes and at 8 after the hour they started directly, kind of, talking about the Tigers. But only after they re lived for zeitgeist comparison sake the past glory of, no not the Penny run, no not the 2008 team, no not Larry Finch’s galvanizing 1973 team, no not the 85 Final four, no not even Joe Jackson and the freshmen crashing the dance, but the 2013 Grizzly team that made the conference finals (the ones that beat OK City playing without Durant or something like that).

As fun as that getting swept by San Antonio in the conference finals team was, I’m not sure anyone gets weepy

Then 11 minutes in it was Tiger basketball

I’m sure they have done better, but that was some ten minutes

GP is on 92.9 fm. Unless there is a simulcast on 680 am, it wouldn't be him.

I don't listen to the am station, so not sure who that might have been.

I will say that what you describe sounds like Giannotto and Jeffrey who come on 92.9 from 2-4 I believe.
