not a ton of star power in the portal yet .. the top 5 IMO are
- Jaelin Llewellyn, Princeton - former top 100 4* , 2x all-ivy, 6'2 16per 39% from3
- Kendal Coleman, Northwestern State - 15pts 10rbs as a covid freshman- all defense
- Taylor Funk, St. Joe's - 6'8 sharp shooter -38% on 7att a game
- Jaylan Gainey, Brown --6'9 ivy league DPOY.. 2blks per
- Cam Hayes, NC State - former top 70 4* PG ..backup PG at nc state, 3 yrs eligibility
Neal Quinn from Lafayette is much better than Funk. Funk is a one trick pony, and he hasn't shot very well in a good bit.

That's the right way to do it.
And that's why it took CKS what... ~3-4 years to really get things rolling at UH. He kept all the scholarship players that were already here, regardless of their skill level - and we weren't recruiting the most highly skilled players when he got here. There wasn't yet a transfer portal those years, but I heard him say in an interview a coujple years ago that he could have gotten better players and the ones already here would have been relegated to the bench or worse, loss of scholarship, but he didn't believe in that.

RE: 2022 Basketball Transfer Portal Thread
This past year has made Jank look like a winner in the portal. Given that he has no new contract I wonder how hard he’s working it these days.
SMU’s in a difficult situation right now. Hopefully they are working hard behind the scenes to upgrade the head coach position. And hopefully Jank’s staff is digging for the next Weathers twins.
Neither, either or both might be true.

RE: 2022 Basketball Transfer Portal Thread
Wichita is having it's year end meetings with coach today (last week was spring break). So will likely see most of the damage this week.
So far in the portal:
Chaunce Jenkins
Clarence Jackson
I expect a handful more.

Thanks but I don’t think we’ll need him. I think we’ve got this covered. The hammer should be dropping shortly.

I've heard the rumors... Do you guys really have to rob one of the few newbies that is actually doing good?

this makes no sense on his end... he already used his 1time transfer, is not a senior and bank on some grad transfer thing either... he is basically a guaranteed starter at Tulsa

I think this was one of those honest conversations - I certainly like Saunders and he has a place on a high major roster but I think Wes Miller has higher expectations for his point guard. He likely sees Saunders as a high level backup/fringe starter and Saunders probably wants more minutes. Wes is in on top 75 Trey Green and 5 star Isaiah Collier for 2023, which would be Saunders' senior year.
I *hope* Miller gets longer and more athletic on the perimeter for next year. Daniel Skillings will be certainly help but it's tough to rely on freshman. Anxious to see who Wes targets.
