I don’t like how they try and mesh into the football culture, as in “oh, looks like he might have a groin pull”. Or, “got to love he just plows into the end zone”. When I hear the voice, I usually just switch to another game. Not interested in a woman’s call and take of a sport played by men. No offense to Beth, just my feel.

On the flip side, don’t feel exactly the same on baseball. That Susie that does color for Stirling on Yankees games is good - and interesting. The San Francisco Giants have a female PA announcer who sounds pretty good.

Whenever Beth Mowins does a game, particularly a game involving teams from the non-autonomous group, I dare you to chug a beer every time she says G5/Group of Five. You'll pass out before the first quarter ends.

She did the UC/SMU game in 2020. She must have said it 100 times.

I turn off any game Beth Mowins doesn’t call. I REFUSE to listen to non-Mowins broadcasts!

She’s not that bad, but she’s not a first choice

Mowens is very good, especially hoops. I have no problem with her. Her voice is not shrill but measured. She is always well prepared. My take on women in the broadcast booth is a case by case thing. Few of them have a good broadcast voice and cadence; most are too high pitch (so are some guys, and I can name a couple who I hate for that). But Mowens is not one of those.

There are some guys here who just hate on women as broadcasters. They see it as a "bro" thing, especially football. I think they need to get over it.

Just did the record her gender had nothing to do with why I don’t care for her. She is just cheesy. If a man called the game like her I’d say the same thing.

Mowins isn't great, but if she was a man she still wouldn't be great.

I remember Kara Lawson being a pretty good analyst for ESPN's college coverage a few years ago. Good voice, great insight, hit her marks. Then the Wizards hired her for radio. Now of course she's leading the revival of Duke women's basketball. We'll see just how revived they are Wednesday hosting No. 1 South Carolina.

Believe it or not, the only woman football sportscaster I respect is Suzy Kolber; she actually played youth football when she was growing up in NE Philly. The other three major sports are not a male only need apply deal. Basketball, hockey and baseball/softball can be analyzed by anyone with a playing background in those sports irregardless of gender.

Maybe you are from North Ohio and are more tolerant of irritating women's voices.04-cheers Mowins is from New York and just has a grating voice. If anything, hers is too low pitched.
