I agree, very happy with this bowl. The Cure bowl benefits a great cause.

Coastal Carolina looks like a good team and our defense will have their hands full again but I trust they will be prepared for this one too.

Florida is a hub for football players (and athletic development) in the country and it is always great for NIU to make more friends there. Great atmosphere in Orlando, FL for the team to play a bowl game!

Who's going to Disney World? 04-cheers

Universal studios is better. Plus have great night life right outside the park. Also closer to stadium.
I would argue the opposite! I watched the MACC game from my RV at Fort Wilderness.

Well have your mask on hand at disney. Masks required indoors
Unfortunately that is true. My problem with Universal is the motion sickness from all their rides.

Reminiscent of the Georgia Tech board, which I've been permanently banned from. They even blocked my IP address for viewing, had to use a VPN.
I guess I shouldn't have registered as "NIUWONLOL".
LOL I got laughed off that board for saying we’d lose by 2 scores but believe NIU believes in themselves and are coming for the W. Probably the most delusional bunch I’ve ever come across.

I received an email from the moderator saying "go away troll". I was able to access to view for awhile after the game, and the reactions were priceless.

The best was a request to the moderator to delete the whole prediction thread so NIU fans wouldn't screen shot it.

I still remember this Ga. Tach fan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShFmHUM2zPM 02-13-banana
Shocked the bananas out of that guy LOL!

I for one enjoy being part of a smaller program. As a fan we can get pretty close to the team and really understand the goings on. We knew the Huskies were going to be better than everyone thought. GT fans felt like they got the bait and switch from an overly optimistic staff and had far less “reality” on what to expect week 1. That victory was top 5 all time satisfying for me!
It certainly was a harbinger of what was to come in the season. Going for two for the win, on the road, against an ACC team. Balls of steel.

This season has taken years off of my life because of the stress, but it's worth it.

Have to go back and find it. One guy was really obnoxious for the whole thread predicting a 40 point win, etc.
Comes with the territory, I guess. Just makes the win that much better.

I know nothing about the Chandeliers (sic) but they seem pretty good, were ranked for a good part of the season.

I think Coach Hammock will have the team ready to go.

Visiting the GT board after beating them was seriously one of the season highlights. If you talk sh!t and lose you eat that sh!t. Wonder if they are now saying - well they did win the MAC? Screw those guys

I don't think so. Coastal had a great couple years. It's a good matchup.

I mean, they have 10 wins and were ranked a lot of this season. It's not bad.

I don’t think it’s a bad matchup, just saying the other MAC programs have sexier opponents.

Fired up after reading these.

The more I look into and think about this game the more excited I get--College football heading toward a format where at least one G5 team plays on the big stage every year. This is a huge chance for NIU/MAC to make a statement over what's expected to be an annual G5 contender. Not expected to win, but it's a hell of an opportunity for the program.

I hate to break it to them that outside of whichever Carolina they are located in, 99.9% of America has never heard of their school. Sure we are a directional Illinois school, but we have a lot more football recognition than they do.

I honestly didn’t come here looking for a fight, but that post right there is moronic. As for NIU having more football recognition, we can compare notes if you want….

Last year- our 4th season in FBS- we hosted ESPN College Gameday and beat the #8 team in the country on a 2 day notice. An ESPN poll voted that game the best college football game since 2016. We have 20 starters back from that team. Yeah, we lost by 6 to a 10-3 App State team at their house and lost by 2 to GA State without our starting QB. The backup QB had 2 crucial turnovers that led to 14 points for Ga State. So we’ve only won 22 of our last 25 games, we’re obviously garbage.

I respect your program. In many ways you've mirrored the start of what NIU did when we got rolling as a recognizable G5.

But to compare notes -- we've been nationally relevant for 2-3 decades. Including a NY6 bowl and NUMEROUS defeats over P5 programs.

NIU is generally a more recognizable brand in the G5 than CC. So for the few on your board acting like we're a step down from you - our program is basically the same as yours, except many more decades of proven success.

If you feel making a specific bowl and losing by 3 TDs somehow garners more recognition than taking on and beating the #8 team in the country in the ESPN game of the week, you’re welcome to that opinion, but we’ll have to agree to disagree.

How many NY6 has your illustrious program been invited to? Zero? In fact, no team in your conference has ever been invited. In recent years NIU and WMU have both been invited.

We've got more wins against P5 opponents in single seasons than you have in your entire program history. We've won AT ranked Alabama and AT ranked Maryland plus Iowa State in a single season. Coastal has nothing on that.

You have had a good couple years playing in the Sun Belt - nice. You don't have anywhere near the history or track record of NIU.

Kudos on your big victory. I generally root for g5 teams over p5 teams
Instead of a pissing match can you tell us about your team?

I know we have a common opponent in Buffalo who we both beat but I haven't really followed costal much.
