If true, Luke Fickell to Notre Dame will be the next move

RE: LSU hiring Brian Kelly
Wow, that will be something if Woodward pulls it off. Not sure why Brian Kelly would want to leave his safe perch in South Bend for the tiger pit in Baton Rouge, but maybe at his age and this point in his career he's thinking he wants a new challenge and doesn't mind so much if he gets sent away many millions richer in 3-4 years if it doesn't work out?
Always happy to see a good coach leave Notre Dame though, they're getting annoyingly close to relevance again these last few years.

Does this dampen the Notre Dame playoff hopes?

Craziest coaching cycle ever. More big jobs opening than ever before.

Is Fickell an Irish last name? It will be now…

RE: LSU hiring Brian Kelly
If this does prove true it's a newsworthy hire, but it really feels more like Woodward just wanted to make a big splash after striking out with Jimbo & Lincoln more than it is a hire who is going to fit well at LSU.
Brian Kelly is 60, how long does he do this even if it works out great? He doesn't look like a Nick Saban to me. I think LSU screwed up chasing the big names and let the coach they should have hired go to Gainesville. Billy Napier is 42 and he may be there a long, long time if things work out.

This would open the door for Urban Meyer to finally become the ND coach.

...I've wondered if any of the staff at LSU will be retained for 'continuity' - of course that is ALWAYS a question, which is typically a 'NO', except for perhaps one or two who have strong recruiting 'avenues' in the region for the program... I figure that will be the case here, although LSU is well in the realm of a 'national recruiting' destination...

If that’s the choice, stick with Freeman.

Never thought I’d see the day Oklahoma lost its coach to USC.

Would they take him now? ND might frown on his antics from earlier this year...

Didn’t Brian Kelly say he would retire in a few years? What happened to that?

Maybe LSU offered him money that Notre Dame couldn't. 5 years making ultra bucks in Baton Rouge. Still a surprise if true. I thought Kelly would retire at Notre Dame. And its a step down in prestige. OU to USC is lateral.

This is really going to scramble recruiting the next couple of weeks.
