Loading your community with logos and color schemes that people don't identify with doesn't fix problems, it creates them -- especially if there was little to no market research done. If social media "likes" is any indication of "Giving Tuesday", it was an absolute disaster.

Well, President Montgomery sent an email out this morning indicating "Giving Tuesday" was a success. So, maybe I was wrong on that front...

I’m sure there were some large donations. But if I had to bet the quantity is down. Probably doesnt matter to them as long as they hit the number.

In addition to the large donations, you would think they would try to hit a large number of small amount donors which could really add up over the long run.

There is also an alleged Capital campaign underway.

Is it true they want to build an arena?

RE: End of an era
I remember one year they posted/tweeted they got at least one donation from someone in every state, & usually a graph of which department got what amount. Saw nothing like that yesterday. It's by no means the end of an era, but must've been below what they were shooting for.

Speaking of money, I was surprised we flew the football team to the Pitt game.

Faculty are never happy. They have a Facebook page too, it's lunacy.

Example: one of the tweets whining about the new building boom. Uhm....a new student center was needed ages ago!

True, faculty are never happy. But they haven't been this upset since Judy Bailey.

President Montgomery has a decision to make: 1) continue on the current path of ruling WMU like a king; or 2) join the WMU community and lead us into the future. At the end of the day, the community will win.

Campus Den at the Meridian Mall in Okemos has an entire rack of our old logo gear available on clearance. I just purchased two t-shirts for $7.99 each. Plenty of sweatshirts and polos available, too.

They also have the ugly Proudfoot stuff, and was told by an employee it is not selling well.

I used several of our new logo shirts to cover-up CMU gear on display when staff wasn't looking....

Nice! https://www.campusden.com/collections/we...all?page=1

It looks like Proudfoot is adopting the gray shirts now too. 04-jawdrop He is taking the brand to a new level of ugliness.

This is the first I've heard this & I highly question it. But very concerning if true, considering we really don't seem to be pouring any more money into athletics than your average MAC school, especially now that TL's salary has fallen into middle-of-the-pack.

Good faculty considering no-confidence vote! What's it take to get it done??

I told the young lady who called last night that I wasn't willing to donate this year because the rebrand had left me feeling disconnected to the university. She said she had heard that alot. I doubt it makes a dent.

Got some info on "Giving Tuesday" for 2021. It is a relatively new program (don't how new) but raised $133,000 from 616 donors, and the amount was greater than last year (source did not say how much more). Small amount compared to the April giving day which raised over two million.
