Not trying to be a dick but i ask honestly, how many baseball bids did the belt have last year? We bring a rpi boost

I admittedly don’t follow baseball at all. If USM has a good baseball program that obviously helps it make more sense to me.

USM is very strong in baseball. Tech would be as well.

When talking baseball please do not mention LaTech in the same breath as USM. LaTech is the definition of a Johnny-come-lately. They’ve been decent for the last 5 years, and this year was their first time hosting a regional. They have no where near the historical success, both record and attendance wise, as the traditional G5 powers along the gulf coast, such as USA, Tulane, USM, and UL. Only reason LaTech’s new stadium was built was because of insurance money. It remains to be seen if they can be historically strong in baseball.

NCAA Tournament Appearances in baseball
28 - South Alabama
21 - Tulane
17 - Southern Miss
16 - Louisiana
9 - La Tech

Add:

Marshall
USM
LaTech
WKU

Adding those four would move the SBC up quite a bit.

If we're being honest and removing any bias, an SBC with those four additions would compete with the MWC for being the #1 G5 conference, and it would be an annual competitor for the NY6 or CFP spot.

It also would instantly bolster basketball.

Exactly. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to La Tech. I think most Tech fans would come around over time.

I don't know if it's "most" but a hell of a lot of them would love to be in the SBC. It's the logical thing. While I do agree that the majority of their most fervent fans are elitist pricks (in terms of their fandom), I think they would be on board pretty quickly.

If it’s inherently good for Loser Tech, I’m forced to be against it. Whether it’s to my own detriment or not.

RE: Thamel - Breaking News!
So was the media deal with ESPN that saw a 40% increase in linear network broadcasts a strategic move by ESPN and the Sun Belt with knowledge of what the AAC was going to lose?
