How do the State fans feel about 2003's regular season?
Will this be Jackie's last year if he doesn't get back on track, or will he turn it back around this year?
Good luck, Dawgs!!

Here's the schedule:
[code:1]AUGUST
30 OREGON TBA
SEPTEMBER
13 at Tulane TBA
20 at Houston 7:00 p.m.
27 * LSU TBA
OCTOBER
4 * VANDERBILT TBA
11 MEMPHIS [HC] 1:30 p.m.
18 * at Auburn TBA
25 * at Kentucky TBA
NOVEMBER
8 * ALABAMA TBA
15 * at Tennessee TBA
22 * at Arkansas TBA
27 * MISSISSIPPI (ESPN-TV) TBA
[/code:1]
I think we're trying to win CUSA and earn a trip to the Liberty Bowl (yippee!).
OREGON - L
Tulane - W/L
Houston - W/L
LSU - L
VANDY - W/L
MEMPHIS - W/L
Auburn - L
Kentucky - W/L
ALABAMA - L
Tennessee - L
Arkansas - L
MISSISSIPPI - W/L
At best, I think we'll go 6-6, but that's unlikely. I wouldn't be surprised to see an 0-12 record.

You got a point there, wyd! I didn't realize y'all had scheduled so many CUSA teams (3). I think your guestimation(is that a word?) is fairly close, IMO. I see y'all winning 3 of your 4 OOC games, and possibly 3, maybe 4 conference games. Other than those 3 CUSA teams, your SEC schedule is very tough.
I'd say 6-6 is about right, maybe 7-5.
By your last statement, I'm guessing you're not too optimistic, but I think this year the Dawgs will be somewhat improved.

I have no idea what Houston, Tulane, and Memphis have coming back, so I could be wrong. I'm fairly confident that we can beat Memphis at home, but Houston and especially Tulane on the road could be tough. Tulane beat Hawaii in their bowl game last year and can usually put up some points.
I think we can beat Vandy at home, but that's the only win I see. LSU and Arkansas have our number. Auburn should be really good. Bama should be decent. We'll get smoked in Knoxville. We should beat Kentucky, but they beat us at home last year, so I won't mark that one down as a win. The Egg Bowl is always a toss-up, but until we show that we can score some points, I'll have to give the edge to Ole Miss.

Boy, you got that right!! Throw out the records on that one every year.
As far as the rest of your post, I think you're dead on, except I may be a little more optimistic for your Dawgs than you are. Auburn, UT, and Arkansas, you're right they will be tough especially away. But UK is winnable for sure, and I think y'all can take LSU at home. We'll see, but I think they will be better. Definitely, no 0-8 this year that's for sure, just make sure that one of your wins doesn't happen on Thanksgiving, alright?

I will say 6-6 but 5-7 is more likely.

Well guys, I've been talking to some Oregon fans and warned them about the weather in Mississippi in August. I predict a win for MSU because those guys aren't used to anything like our climate!
Remember Notre Dame in 1977?

Well, I was 6 then, but I remember. It's when Notre Dame came into Jackson's Memorial Coliseum ranked in the top 5 (I believe no. 1, but I may be wrong) and took a huge upset loss to the Rebs that day!!!
I don't think beating Oregon would quite rank up there to that, but I can definitely see the weather being a huge factor for the Duckies that day!! An upset is very possible for the Dawgs. He does have a point!
I'll be pulling for the Dawgs!!

I had been out of Ole Miss for 6 years by then. (Class of '71)
Notre Dame went on that year to become National Champs, but they did have one little smudge on their record, a loss to Ole Miss in Jackson.
The next weekend we played Southern and lost!! :bang:

I had been an Ole Miss grad 5 years when we played ND in Jackson......now back to State in 03. Let me start by saying I hope they have a very good year except for Thanksgiving evening. I would like for "all" of our major colleges to do well. I'm tired of people thinking that Mississippi is so inferior to so many other states.
I think we have talent enough for all our teams to post winning records.
Here's to better than 6-6!!
