I've been asking other teams' fans how they think their team will fare in 2003 regular season football......how do you see your record shaping up, and how do you see the USC-Ole Miss game in Oxford this year?
Your turn!!! What say you Gamecocks?????

The good news is that USC has 8 home games. The bad news is that only 2 or 3 of the games look like sure wins. Our early schedule contains Virginia and Georgia, it doesn't get any easier. If we pull an upset or two we could possibly make a bowl game. However, I don't feel confident about this season at all. We will be lucky to win 4 or 5 games IMO.
I am excited about the Ole Miss matchup, but since it is in Oxford I think you will have the obvious advantage.
I think the season will provide some surprises for Gamecock fans, I hope that Lou Holtz can work his magic.

C'mon, Rap...where's your optimism? There's plenty of time for the 4-8 stuff halfway into the season...!
This is the time of year where every team is going to a bowl game, and the corner is turned! Lou has led us to the promised land, and we're playing in New Orleans in December, then Fla. in January!!
Ok,Ok,...just let me have my moment....

Manning scares the crap outta me but fortunatly, Charlie Strong has moved on so we scrapped that crappy 3-4 defense and went back to a 4-3 and Holtz has some studs in the front seven. In the 37 years I have been a Gamecock, I have never seen the size, speed and depth we have now. hopefully, those guys will be able to pressure Manning into a few mistakes, or as Holtz says, stop the running back on the way to the QB.
If Manning has time he may very well pick us apart.
I don't know much about your defense but our O line averages 6'5" 315lbs. The biggest ever at USC. Our starting QB will most likley be RS Jr. Dondrial Pinkins 6'3" 240 lbs that has yet to throw a pick this spring and that includes the spring game this past Saturday. This guy was highly regarded coming out of high school. He started our last two games last year and all things considered, did a pretty good job. Oh, he can run also.
WR need to step up this year. We have a gamebreaker in Troy Williamson but someone else need to step up in order to roll some of the coverage off of Troy. Keep an eye on incoming freshman Noah Whitesides.
We are deep and talanted at the running back position and that does not include incoming freshman All-American and the number one ranked running back in the country Dmetreous(sp) "Meat" Summers. I saw him play in high school and he reminds me alot of a guy the used to play for us by the name of George Rodgers. Hopefully he will qualify.
I see a pretty good game here but if we can contain Manning and can run the ball, I think we eek one out.

Well, our question as always will be defense, defense, defense......can we stop anybody? Everyone knows we can score 40 points, but we have a problem sometimes giving up 45....and that ain't good.
As far as Eli picking y'all apart, well that is possible, he can when everything is working on all cylinders...ie blocking well, running game is on, and he is on target. Problem there is, we took a big blow in Spring practice, losing our projected no. 1 RB in Jamal Pittman to injury. We do have some other guys stepping up in that area, but will it be enough to take the pressure off of Eli? We'll see.
I look very forward to USC coming to town!!! Anyone of y'all planning on making the trip to our beautiful Grove? You won't be disappointed.

10man -
sorry about your injured player - hate to hear that.
Wanted to congratulate you on the great bowl win over the Huskers, also. I know its late, but I'm sure you won't mind.
