Just came over to check to see what some of y'all thought about this. I'm definitely not pleased and think we botched this hire. The majority probably feel this way too, but a good number are taking a wait and see. No one is excited.

Like Butch Jones as your football coach this is not a bad hire. Both have had success.

He's good for football and for financial accountability. If Butch doesn't get it done quickly, he will be looking for a younger replacement.
Maybe not as good for Title IX and other sports.

As long as he doesn't take his administrative assistant on trips with him it should be okay.

Yeah, has a good history with football coaches, but that's about it. We were hoping to have an AD that would have higher expectations from our baseball and basketball programs, but I'm not convinced he's that guy.
From the folks I talked to after the fact, school admin waited as long as they could for Tom to find another position. IIRC, he made the final rounds for Illinois, the SBC and Southern commissioner positions, but just couldn’t close the deal for whatever reason. Anyway, the allegations surrounding w bball ended up being the severing point. Both parties were looking to move on. I don’t think he was a bad AD as he was hired to shore up football and finances and did that. Personally, I miss his interviews on Memphis radio as he had loose lips when it came to conference info lol. Good luck to Tom and Ark. St.

Well, from our experiences here, he's not the guy for Basketball or Baseball. I don't think he likes those sports lol--- except for the away games.
