Sadly...This represents a large slice of the population educated in horrible government schools that spend all their time watching YouTube videos and tweeting. They don't read newspapers or watch anything on television dealing with current affairs. This is why Entertainment Tonight has a larger viewership than the evening news.
I don't get it, I think Trump won the debate on policy (although I'm not sure if it was enough), but he did have some pretty bad lines. It appears to me that they are just making fun of this exact quote:
"Children are brought here by coyotes and lots of bad people, cartels. They used to use them to get into our country. We now have as strong a border as we've ever had." – Trump, on the child separation policy at the U.S.-Mexico border
Rob, you do know what the term 'coyote' means right? He's not referencing the mangy canine that hunts in packs.
Yes, I know, I'm just saying I would have avoided the term for a public debate to the entirety of the population. It doesn't surprise me that some of the younger audience (yet still eligible voters) it's familiar with the term.
Truthfully, I found this quote from Trump I mentioned earlier in the thread more amusing through “I know all about wind, it kills all the birds”. Like I said, I vote on policy, but am not afraid to say that he steps in it every once in a while.
I didn't know anybody didn't know the term. But then I lived in Texas for many years.
Still, people without TDS would not make idiots of themselves. They would look the term up.

Rob, there are thousands of tweets online right now from grown adults, including politicians, who are making fun of Trump's comment and obviously have no clue about the colloquial meaning, which should be obvious to anybody who reads news online.
Grown adults, I can say maybe they just don't follow immigration and it's low on their list of important issues (although they should probably keep quite about it then) - it's honestly no higher than about 10th on mine. Politicians, well there's no excuse for that.
I honestly can not see anyone that is even mildly interested in current events not instantly knowing what Trump was referring to..but..I run into people all the time that have no clue wtf is going on around them. They are locked into their own little world that involves work, family, food, entertainment. They are totally uninterested in anything outside of that. The thing is...The use of the term coyote has been around for decades. You would think just by accident most everyone would have encountered it and understand its use here. SMH.

Doubtful that these tweets or posts are anything but a phone bank of Biden campaign workers who were given a topic to pile on with. While I agree with your assessment about education the simple fact is hat demographic doesn't watch debates either and there's your tell. The other tell is that by denying coyotes (which is a real immigration term involving the recruitment and placement of immigrants most of whom pay $1200 to $2000 dollars each in their currencies equivalent to be snuck across the border and placed in a job (which is never officially listed though their employers withhold SSI and tax which they pocket), or which carry drugs if they cannot pay the fee) they are also essentially denying illegal immigration by making fun of those who seriously speak on the subject, in this case the President.
This is clearly part of the Democratic strategy for voter recruitment and is exactly in line with their tactics on ANITIFA being an idea, BLM a peaceful civil rights movement combating "systemic racism" and their making fun of and attacking people online who don't buy into their BS cover for socialist objectives such as the Green New Deal and Climate Change (which though real is the product of the Earth's natural progress around the Sun and the movement of the Galaxy.
So those chirping in pretending to misunderstand what a coyote is, don't misunderstand it, they are seeking to deny the activity because it justifies the wall, stops illegals from being used to boost Dem votes, and keeps open a pathway for communist organizers to continue to sneak in, the drugs to continue to undermine our society (and I'm not speaking of cannabis) and for illegal arms to be smuggled in as well. These are definitely not a collection of the cultivated idiots of public education all have the same misconception.
Good point. But I would argue that there is a lot of both in there.

There he’s talking about power generation. Wind power.
Those big ass fans kill thousands of birds every year.
I know exactly what he's talk about, but it would sound alot more intelligent if he stated something to the degree of "I know all about the use of wind turbines for power generation, they are inefficient and contribute to significant wildlife mortality", then "I know all about wind" - really everything about the wind?, "it kills all birds" - really, all birds, then what is that flying in my back yard?
Really, Wind Power? T. Boone Pickens spent a $10Billion on wind farms. Didn't work, too inefficient. Sold it for 25cents on the dollar. It is a non starter. And solar panels take longer to recoup your expense for buying them than they will last. Have done appraisals for people that have spent $15,000 on them all over their roofs to save $75/month on their power bill. Do the math. And the kicker is it is bolted onto the roof and unless the panels were put up the day after the new shingles were installed, they have a max of 15-20 years before the roof has to be replaced. Doubt the panels last that long anyway.

My wife and I purchased the home we're currently in a little over a year ago and my neighbors were telling me when we moved in how great their solar is and how little they spend on power bills. So I looked into it a little further and you exactly right, the math didn't make any sense at all especially considering that with the roof approaching 10 years old I would be looking at 5-10 years to recoup my cost.

There is no doubt that it works fine in certain areas of the country. NC State University has a solar calculator site on the web. Im sure its easy to find. All you have to do is put in your zip code and it will give you the numbers to work with. Here in SeNC it is not a good investment yet. It has to do with the efficiency of the panel and the amount of daily sunlight available. I think when I checked it last it would take 25 years to pay back here. The panels last about 25 years...so..its not anything to discuss. I do have friend in the mountains that installed a daisy chained thin photovoltaic system in the channels of the metal roof of his cabin. Basically the entire roof is a solar collector. He has meter that basically turns backwards when the roof generates more than he uses. His cabin is completely energy independent in the Summer months when he uses it the most. He winterizes the cabin and locks it up in the winter months. Pretty cool system.

quite a few blue check marks in that thread, including journalists.
Quote:One freshman Democrat U.S. representative, Xochitl Torres Small of New Mexico’s Second Congressional District, took to Twitter to do some damage control, as she has desperately tried to claim she supports the oil and gas industry in the past. However, she has endorsed New Mexico’s “mini” Green New Deal, eradicating the New Mexico oil and gas industry. The industry makes up one-third of the state budget. Torres Small’s husband, state Rep. Nathan Small co-sponsored the far-left anti-oil and gas bill.
In 2018, Torres Small ran as a radical environmentalist, garnering support from Green New Deal-backing groups such as the League of Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club. In the most recent Federal Election Commission filing period, Torres Small took thousands from these radical environmental groups that support the Green New Deal.
After Biden’s “big statement” on oil and gas, Torres Small attempted to distance herself from the former vice president, writing, “I disagree with VP Biden’s statement tonight. Energy is part of the backbone of New Mexico’s economy. We need to work together to promote responsible energy production and stop climate change, not demonize a single industry. I will continue to stand up to my party when they’re out of touch with the reality on the ground in #NM02.”
Torres Small votes 94% of the time with Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. She also previously said she is voting for Joe Biden in the November 2020 election and voted twice to impeach President Trump.
However, Torres Small’s last-ditch effort to win in November by throwing Biden under the bus has irked New Mexico Democrats, who ripped into her on Twitter.
New Mexico state Sen. Jacob Candelaria (D-Bernalillo), wrote multiple statements to her on Twitter, most notably, “There was no demonization going on. This statement is misleading at best.” In response to another commenter, Candelaria wrote, “Not on this issue. @JoeBiden didn’t even come close to demonizing the oil and gas industry. This sort of pandering is what makes climate progress so hard.”
Senior electoral analyst for the leftist group “Data for Progress,” Aidan Smith, blasted Torres Small, writing, “Fun fact: When one industry is driving the single biggest crisis in human history, it’s not ‘demonization’ to point it out.”
Hundreds of others blasted Torres Small, and it is unclear if she will flip back in lockstep with Democrats, as she did when she voted to impeach President Trump amid threats from Democrats that they would refuse to vote for her. Torres Small’s balancing act of sitting on the fence may finally have caught up to her, as voters cannot seem to know where she stands on any given issue. Torres Small faces Republican former state Rep. Yvette Herrell in the November 3 General Election.
My one question with Trump and the debate is when they ask the race questions... why doesn't he just mention the Platinum Plan? He talks around it, but mention it. Provide some of those details about what is still ahead for the black community in America during his second term.
