That's a tough call for a blue collar town like Memphis. That can really torpedo a work force that won't get paid if they don't work. No mayor or governor wants to be the guy who didn't act in an aggressive way, but you have to know your people. But we have to get a handle on this virus.

Dems need to quit playing with people's lives and pass the package.

I understand they want things completely unrelated to the coronavirus, but now is not the time to be playing those games.

RE: [COVID-19 MEGA-THREAD]
1200, 2400,3600 is not going to bale me out,,,just sayin. I am the smallest biz owner there is...family biz/no payroll. Still working because I have a grocery store/ supplement pharmacy.

Dems want more money for the little guy and Pubs want the big guys to get a big chunk for trickling down lol.

It's the same ole same ole.

Biggest thing they are arguing over is a $500 billion fund for businesses, states, and cities which the administration would have carte blance to spend. Dems are objecting to that and I understand why. The last bailout went to the banks that caused the collapse, though this is decidedly different and more serious.

In truth, I have mixed feelings to no feelings on the subject. 1200 isn't going to save my ass, and it's doubtful that such a small amount will save anyone else's. But it's a nice gesture. lol

People live from paycheck to paycheck. Most will not qualify for unemployment, though I did read that states that got declared a disaster area have access to unemployment benefits for small biz owners.

Sorry if some of us actually want to see the money instead of corporations hiding it from their wages.

Edit - not directed at Snow, because she gets it.

While many want to politicize this...

There are different views on this entire thing and much of it has much of it has 100% to do with the current situation.

But honestly to make it much simpler their should be two resolutions...One for small businesses and individuals and one for corporations...May cause more paperwork but should be much easier to agree on relief for individuals.

Many holes with plans on both sides...If I made 95k as a machinist and was laid of I get nothing...But the Stocker at Kroger never missed a check yet he gets the full deal. With them wanting the money to go out as fast as possible it just isn't going to be fair...

If you don't put restrictions on large corporations they are going to do what is best for their shareholders (That's their jobs)...Not necessarily their employees.

RE: [COVID-19 MEGA-THREAD]
What is considered essential businesses?

Such a gray area...

FedEx/UPS...Supply chain...Could be deemed food, medical...

Amazon...Groceries.

Smith & Nephew\Medtronic makes medical devices...Not pharma but are they essential as well.

Hilton and Service Master...Probably not.
