In the final 6 minutes they made 1 layup, 1 jumper, 2 3's and 3 free throws. Meanwhile we were 0-8 FG's with 4 missed 3's and 4 turnovers. Problem wasn't really the defense.

Stangs beat the same Houston team we beat as well...

SMU shot 55% from the field against Houston

We are going to have play better against SMU than we did against Houston to get this win. Houston stayed in the game because they grabbed close to 1/2 their misses which is insane.

If we can hit OPEN 3's we should win this one though.

Your stats demonstrate no distinction for key moments in games. In particular when we aren't scoring, our D has to be better than our statistical averages to have a chance to win. Example, the 29% you quote still doesn't change that we are 6th in the AAC, lost to SMU who hit their shots down the stretch & we're barely on the bubble to make the tourney.

I don't know, I wouldn't call giving up 33 points from the 3-point line a strength. If we had closed out, they probably wouldn't have gone back to that well 34 times. We defend the 3 better when we don't switch on every pick and when we don't have Tyler in, IMHO. Long story short, he needs to outscore whoever he's defending if he's in more than 10-12 minutes -- and sometimes he does.

Smh people still want to harp on the defense with 4 games left in the regular season. Bbbbbbut they hit two threes in a row or two in a 5 min stretch... who cares the entire body of work shows that isn’t a “weakness”. The problems scoring for long stretches is the issue.
