He owes not being canned at usf entirely due to Quinton Flowers deciding to become a freak athlete QB who could single handedly win games for him.

This is a coach who was annihilated at home by McNeese State in Year 2 of his tenure at usf.

He just went 6-6 in a horrible ACC with a roster packed with 4 and 5 star kids.

Never has such an average coach gotten so many suckers to pay him huge sums of money to never win anything important.

No, the McNeese State debacle was his first game in his first year. Other than that, though, I don't disagree with what you're saying...

I've said countless times that Taggart has two skills - he's a decent recruiter and he's able to recognize underrated 2 and 3 star recruits. Those skills were NEVER going to translate at Florida State, where they already recruit pretty well and they sure aren't looking to find diamonds in the rough. He can probably succeed doing that at FAU.

Taggart is not a good coach. His teams are always incredibly undisciplined, his players rarely have situational awareness (e.g. snapping the ball with time left on the clock when trying to milk it), and the only time we were remotely decent on defense was under Tom Allen (who's proving who the brains were in the operation by having Indiana on the upswing). Woodie is an albatross. Fortunately, I think Kelly recognized all of this, which is why I'm thrilled with the hire. As others have said, USF needs to stop trying to live on the "glory days" of 2007 and/or 2016 and move forward.

Totally disagree. Yes there were issues at USF, but overall he did very well at identifying talent and finding a way to use them. Yes he tried the power run here for 2 years and it didnt work. He then switched and got the Gulf Coast going and won.

He turned around WKU, turned around USF, made Oregon better.... his history shows improvement everywhere he went, except FSU.

Just like Holtz, I think he has a limit on his coaching. Holtz is a good CUSA level coach but when he was challenged with a Big East schedule, he didnt know how to run that program.
Taggart isnt a P5 coach but at the G5 level, he will do well. Hes gonna get those diamonds in the rough, coach them up and find the best place for them.
Bash him all you want but his record doesnt go along with what any of you are saying. He took a total crapshow here in tampa and got it going. If you are going to blame him for the bad, you cant diminish the good. Its either all on him or its not. Yes, he hired a good coordinator that helped, but thats part of HIS job. He gets credit for that.

You're welcome to disagree. I will disagree that he "made Oregon better." That was a team that was 2 years removed from a national championship appearance and 1 year removed from a 9-3 season that then quit on Helfrich. He made them a 7-5 team with pretty much the same players that Cristobal just led to a Pac-12 title.

I give him full credit for refilling the cupboard after Skip left it bare. No doubt he's a fantastic recruiter of top 2 star and 3 star players. But he won his games by having the most talent on the field, not because he's a great coach.

Lest you forget, the "Gulf Coast Offense" was the pro-style running offense until it wasn't. Taggart's a one trick pony, which is why "Do Something" and Swag Surfin was done at USF, then at Oregon, then at FSU. Anybody want to bet what FAU's new slogans and trademarks will be? It's the same gimmick as Row the Boat, or Schiano's chopping wood. It's rah-rah crap and not evidence of actual coaching.

Again, feel free to disagree. But the truth of the matter is that he's an under .500 coach. At a certain point, you are what you are. And USF is better off rid of him.
