Well some people here believe ULM is a good football team. Which should be added to this list.

I came in prepared to fight with Stammers and left applauding, giving him positive rep. Anyone that thinks Memphis plays on an equal footing with other teams is out of their freckin minds.

It has nothing to do with that at all, with what is happening right now as a clear example. No fan in their right mind should even think that we should be penalized after the NCAA cleared Wiseman, and that is twice considering that it happened to Rose.

Who has players get cleared twice (multiple times for Rose actually) and then has the NCAA go back on its decision with no additional evidence?

Who in their right mind would say that Penny and Wiseman were wrong and we deserve it, after seeing all the stuff with the FBI and the dozens schools involved with that and other stuff.

Quote:In October 2018, Dan Wetzel from Yahoo Sports reported that Adidas employee Merl Code had discussed Williamson with Kansas assistant coach Kurtis Townsend in a recorded phone call before Williamson decided to sign with Duke. "Between me and you," Code reportedly said, "He's asking for opportunities from an occupational perspective, he's asking for cash in the pocket and he's asking for housing for him and his family."

Wiseman's mom got $11,500. Zion's family moved into a mansion and got a bunch of cash. Whatever happened to Zion? Why do our fans say Penny was wrong and we deserve punishment? Wiseman deserves ZERO punishment for this.

When he gets flawless line play he is, when he doesn't, he isn't. We wouldn't have won a bunch of games that we won with Lynch and Ferguson, but we probably don't beat SMU with either of them.

I guess I must have hit a nerve, because you are the worst when it comes to officials. According to you officiating should never be blamed and for some reason you think it is on the onus of the team getting screwed (usually us) to be able to overcome it.

As for White, the problem is that you don't understand football. You fail to see the opportunity cost when a quarterback gets sacked because he is as slow as molasses, a lineman's hand brushes against his helmet (literally) or he is unable to run 3 yards for a first down when he has a wide open field in front of him. All you see is 0-0 passing on all of those plays.

My opinion of White takes everything into account and is even handed. Here is what I posted after the SMU game.

Quote:White is exponentially good when he has great protection and exponentially poor when he doesn't. If you look at Lynch's statement game against Ole Piss, there is ZERO chance that we win that game if we have White at quarterback. Having said that, I don't think we win on Saturday with either Lynch or Ferguson at quarterback; White played as good of a game as you will see.

With the last 4 games I think it is fair to continue to say that when protection isn't amazing, he isn't a great quarterback and can't win games that Lynch and Ferguson won. I also think it is fair to say that when he has great protection he is just as good and maybe better than both.

He had so much time 90% of the time he dropped back and SMU was giving us single coverage all over the field, and our receivers were wide open all over the place. He made all the throws and I there is no way that Lynch or Ferguson would have made the half dozen throws he made into tight windows.

He is getting less jittery when the pocket starts to collapse and he has been willing to take a hit to make passes. Against Temple he made the one stupid throw, but other than that he did a great job passing the ball; so that is 4 games in a row.

In a nutshell, both Lynch and Ferguson would have scored a lot more points against Ole Piss, but neither would have put as many points on the board as White did on Saturday.

Seems very fair to me. I even praised him after Temple; when almost everyone was calling for his head.

That post is after SMU...Yeah you changed your opinion, previously you were presenting a much harsher critique as fact and shouting down and insulting anyone who disagreed with you.

Stammers Wrote:That is absolutely INSANE on so many levels. First, the eye test. Anyone can see that Ferguson was 10X better than White, and not only was he a better passer by a mile, he had a much quicker release, he was less immobile than White and he was 10X harder to take down.

Second, White makes all of our wide receivers look not as good because he has such a weak arm and can't escape any pressure. I hope you aren't implying that White would be able to make any of the deep throws that Ferguson made and I hope you aren't implying that Ferguson wouldn't be able to hit those -5 to 5 yard passes that White hits.

Third, you want to bring up Miller? Fine. Ferguson had Henderson and Pollard as freshmen and Taylor as a sophomore. Our running backs had 48 touchdowns last season and we had the most 40+ yard runs in the entire NCAA.

If Ferguson was our quarterback last year we would have punted a dozen times all season.

What date was that?

All that said riley is a better qb but not by as much as some on here want to think

I fully remember it. That was after the game where we scored 15 points on Ole Piss with one of our touchdowns coming on a drive where he handed off every play, and 2 points on a safety. Ferguson and Lynch would have demolished Ole Piss; White missed multiple open receivers and caved in when he had a bit of pressure.

Like I said, with GREAT line play he is very good. With above average line play or worse he is exponentially bad. According to most defending him, our line play was awful and get this...our receivers weren't that good and couldn't get open.

Hopefully, I don't have to be proven right. If our line play continues like it has the last 4 games we will put points on the board.

Ridiculous.

Another great post Stammers. 04-cheers

The idea that differing opinions actually exist is lost on some people.

Some would rather go on crusades to prove they are right only to look simple minded later.

This is what you said about White slowleak.

Quote:Any pressure and he is going to wilt.

When he feels pressure he looking for a place to lay down.

But I do feel that Norvell likes the kids mind...He must make tons of on field adjustments to get us into better plays.

It is hilarious that you are on me for criticizing White, considering the stupidities that came out of you with Henderson.

Quote:The comparison is stupid because Henderson needs a hole in order to be successful. Put Henderson on a bad team and he will struggle...Put Deangelo on a bad team and he would still shine.

Henderson is executing plays...Deangelo MADE plays.
Quote:Not saying that Henderson is a bad player but he is nowhere near Williams level. Henderson doesn't see a hole he tries to get the edge. So many of Henderson's long runs are just weaving through traffic... He isn't beating guys, he is outrunning them

And the yards after contact stat is amazing, but it really doesn't tell the true story.
Quote:Never said Henderson was a bad back...Actually said he is good
Quote:You just like to fight. Bama's Line...WTF are you talking about

Are you saying his stats would be better if he played for Bama ...Especially YPC...I am sure you are not.

And I still stand by my assessment of Henderson. Fast back runs hard...Needs holes...Good but not great

So there you have it; EXACTLY the point of the thread. We have an actual fan that thinks that Henderson was just ok when he was here.

And here come the instults...Again differing opinion deserves being attacked in your mind.

I evaluated Hendersons skill set not his stats when he was compared to Deangelo and based on their skillset they are not even close as I stated a year ago.

Do you think Deangelo is on the bench behind an undrafted free agent.

We agree that White is soft in the pocket...But I also saw that White had potential. You said he was terrible and are trying to backtrack now.

If I had a nickel for every time I (Or others, because I stopped posting for a long while) was bashed for seeing with things through our blue glasses and with our blue hair, I would have enough nickels to fill Pete Gillen’s head, and then still have enough spare change to fill Gary Parish’s ego.

I get the point of the original post. Some valid stuff in there.

But, the attitude of said poster is garbage. One would think that a person over the age of 30 or so, would have learned how to converse without being a d-bag.

Perhaps some folks never gain enough wisdom and maturity to not act like a 13 year old that didn't get his way. Who knows?

You're still mad at being laughed at for saying Tubby was great and everyone that disagreed with you was an idiot.

This year...After week 2

Again you may not remember but you were on a crusade against anyone who said White was any good.

Your post was in reply to this

Quote:I stated this last year but the herd mentality here tends to drown things out.

In 2017 Miller caught 1/3 of riley's passes... replace Miller with coxie and Rileys stats are much lower because not only did Miller catch a ton of passes his presence allowed other players more space. Teams don't fear Coxie

Was after Southern Game were we scored 55 and White threw for 300+ yards and that post didn't say our receivers couldn't get open it said Riley had better receivers. Riley also had a better line.

Also...Do you still feel he can only throw he ball 5 yards downfield. You were over reacting and shouting down and insulting anyone with a differing opinion than you.

That is why this is relevant to your OP...Anyone who brings a different viewpoint is wrong in your mind and deserves ridicule.

Read one post above Jethro.

Keep on digging...

Again another insult.

Soft in the pocket? You completely flamed him, and now YOU are trying to back track.

I have no problem with most opinions, but you take the cake. I'm not back tracking at all. I was being critical when criticism was warranted and am giving credit where credit is due. He put up 7 points against Ole Piss; lost games for us by not even being average AND really does have no mobility and can't take a hit. He has had great protection the last 4 games and he has been great.

IF you didn't say this...
Quote:Not saying that Henderson is a bad player but he is nowhere near Williams level. Henderson doesn't see a hole he tries to get the edge. So many of Henderson's long runs are just weaving through traffic... He isn't beating guys, he is outrunning them

I would say that this is your dumbest statement yet, which you keep repeating, except that you just said this...

Quote:Do you think Deangelo is on the bench behind an undrafted free agent.

NFL standing is the most lame argument there is. How did Jamarcus Russell turn out? Who is Paxton Lynch starting for?

I don't care if people laugh at me. I'm sometimes right and sometimes wrong.

I was wrong about Tubby. But, he's still a decent person, in my opinion.

But, beyond that...thank you for (once again) clearly illustrating my point.
