Could use all the help you can get looks like to me.

Excellent point, Reggie. You are a very knowledgeable poster.

I get it, but misery doesn’t love company. You guys have your wish, roll with it. AAC didn’t ask for this, but UCONN did and now your long term thought process is zero.

You have to understand that all or most of our programs have been grinding for decades because the power around has tried to stop us the whole time....in our case the SEC and the TN BOR. What do we do, we keep fighting. UCONN had it all at one point and the first time of trouble....you’re own doing, you all quit. It’s sad really because we have all paid our dues while you all flushed it away with no fight or grind. Be mad at us, be mad at Aresco, but god forbid you look in the mirror.

Bowl opponents have anything to do with that?

No other input? Certainly a Memphis fan understands how NCAA credits work. If I'm wrong, I'll happily admit it. Maybe you could help settle this argument instead of criticizing my posting style. I'm not here to troll or be rude. I just said I didn't think the jump for VCU would be that much of a financial boon due to their NCAA credit revenue sharing agreement, which is on topic.

No. Guests are not to launch personal attacks on fans of AAC schools. Please go on your own accord.

Seriously man? It was a pretty light "personal attack" but I officially apologize to Foreverandever for calling him dense. I was frustrated as there was obviously a lack of communication between us and we were going around in circles. But I'd love to continue this conversation.

Now, if VCU wins the A10 tourney every year for six years and then lost in the first round of the NCAA, in the sixth year they will collect 75% of the credits for each of those years. So if we're using $277K as the per credit per year for 6 years amount they would collect 1,246,500 in that year. And if they continued that trend they would collect that amount (roughly) every year. True or false?

Also, I see looking back that forever claims that in the AAC schools that earn the credits get 25% and the rest is shared. Can someone confirm this? I had assumed in my calculations that it was shared equally as it is in most conferences. That would change it a little. Again, I'm not saying they wouldn't accept just that it would take some serious consideration.

That's common for most conferences. I haven't found an AAC specific one.

Came from the Wichita paper talking about how much money the AAC move was worth. Believe it has been mentioned by them on occasion. If you need it sources I can probably find it in my posts here I think it was last summer it originally got brought up.

* Going to split the media $ equally but feel there must be some variation if you are on ESPN etc or not.

This year if you take the media and the share of 25% pool it equals 1/2 Million per team.

2014: 10 (Dayton 4, Saint Louis 2, St Joe's 1, VCU 1, UMass 1, GW 1)
2015: 5 (Dayton 3, VCU 1, Davidson 1)
2016: 5 (Dayton 1, VCU 2, St Joe's 2)
2017: 4 (Dayton 1, VCU 1, URI 2)
2018: 5 (URI 2, SBU 2, Davidson 1)
2019: 2 (VCU 1 and St Louis 1)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
31 credits

I used $257,807 per unit, the 75/25 split and the 25 was split by the teams that did not make it. about 8 M for the conference (7,992,017).

Code:
Team    Credits    Earned     Receive          Remainder A10 Pool
Dayton    9    $2,320,263    $1,740,197.25    $580,065.75
VCU       6    $1,546,842    $1,160,131.50    $386,710.50
URI       4    $1,031,228    $  773,421.00   $257,807.00
SLU       3    $  773,415    $  580,065.75    $193,349.25
St Joes   3    $  773,415    $  580,065.75    $193,349.25

Umass    1    $  257,807    $  193,355.25    $ 64,451.75
La Salle   0    $0.00
Duquesne  0    $0.00
Fordham 0    $0.00
Richmond  0    $0.00
G Mason   0    $0.00
------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                 A10 Pool Total $1,997,992.75

Every team receives a cut of the 25% pool or $142,713.77
Every team receives a cut of the 5M Media * $357,142.86

Ok, so for the AAC VCU version:

34 credits

We will sub in VCU credit total of 6 so we have apples to apples.

VCU with 6 credits in the NCAA 1,546,842
Paid 25% 386,710
7% of 28 shares 505,301
NCAA total 892,011
TV money 2.25m
Total 3,392,011

VCU A10 version:

VCU with 6 credit in the NCAA 1,546,842
Paid 75% 1,160,131
% of 25 credits 142,713
NCAA total 1,302,844
TV money 357,142
Total 1,659,986

Total difference
AAC +1,732,025

Thanks for showing your work so we could get an apples to apples look at the numbers for VCU depending on which conference they were in.

Now you get it. There’s still increased travel to consider but if you adjust for the fact that I was using equal shares of NCAA credits and 2M for media instead of 2.25 this is pretty much what I originally posted.

I got it the whole time. 1.73m is almost 2m a year difference as I said in the beginning and works out to be almost 10.4m difference over six years. That's a pretty serious difference.

VCU has proven it is willing to climb going from the CAA to the A10. I feel pretty confident that such a difference in money and expanded exposure, plus competition would be a yes if invited.
