Considering BYU received the most votes, yet is not a realistic add to the AAC as it appears, here is an updated poll. Some have been removed either bc of a super low vote count in the previous poll or bc there is not a realistic chance of them joining.

Oh?

You have anything to back this up? Or just trying to rig USM into winning it?

The earliest we will know anything is after AAC summer meetings in a little over a week.
I don’t see any option for none of the above

Bc if you look at what the BYU contingent says / thinks, it is not happening. Also, if you look at what your Commissioner is saying, he isn't making any calls and BYU will not be calling.

That is bc there are no other options. These are the choices. Like it or not, this is all that is possible and most likely, a team will be added.
Out of the above candidates, I selected Old Dominion.

ODU had a ton of votes in last poll. Surprising to me.
Fake poll Without FIU and Buffalo... But includes Southern Miss and Marshal... Zero chance for either of them... Liberty and JMU have a better chance.
Need to add these options to get an accurate read---

1) Colorado St
2) Add Nobody
3) VCU+ a football only
4) VCU with no football only

After looking up the USNWR classifications on the schools from the poll, I honestly have serious doubts that a single school off the current list could ever generate the 8 votes needed to earn an invite. Every AAC full member is a USNWR ranked "national" university. Every AAC full member except one is ranked inside the top 200 by USNWR. Im afraid almost every school in the poll is either a USNWR "regional" university or a "national" universtity that is ranked well outside the top 200 (all those outside the top 200 are ranked 230 or above). The only ones off that list that have a prayer of getting enough votes with the presidents are probably are Georgia St (187), Charlotte (194), Rice (16), and UAB (157). Unfortunately, none of those have a an athletics program with any history of consistent high level of performance. Assuming the presidents are only considering USNWR top 200 national universities---this is your list of available prospects in FBS. I also included one non-football option (VCU).

From the poll--

Georgia St #187
Charlotte #194
Rice #16
UAB #157

Not included in the poll

Miami of Ohio #96
UMass #70
Buffalo #89 and also boasts AAU membership
Colorado St #140
VCU #157
UConn #63
BYU #66
Ball State #171
FIU #187
New Mexico #187
Kent St #191

Was very close to adding CSU but dont see them leaving the MWC. They also aren't an ideal travel fit for the AAC. I do not see them getting enough votes from the AAC ADs / President's to get an invite anyhow. They do not bring much to the table.
In order to add anyone West of the current footprint as a FULL MEMBER we would have to go to 16 teams... Otherwise they would be Football only and there is NO SUCH THING as ideal fit.
For the love of God, can we make this USM nightmare end? So needy it's embarrassing. Mods?
Lol, the world from the Southern Miss perspective, huh?

I won't vote until this poll reflects serious candidates. How do you include Troy and go on to argue why Colorado State wasn't included? Complete nonsense.

VCU is the only school close to likely and you've ignored them again. Do you guys know what basketball is down there on the Gulf Coast?

To be honest--CSU is the only school off the USNWR top 200 national universities list that might be available and isnt generally a complete train wreck in the revenue sports. They arent Boise St, but they are just 9 games under 500 for the last 20 seasons. They went to 12 bowls during those 20 years. Thats a respectable mid-pack team that has a great double digit win year every now and then. That's much better than UConn. CSU Basketball----is also not spectacular---but not embarrassing. CSU has just 3 NCAA bids since 2000---same as UCF. Three bids since 2000 would be 2 less than Tulsa has----but more than SMU, Tulane, and ECU have combined over that period.

If CSU isnt interested, or the presidents decide Colorado is just too darn far---just adding VCU as a non-football member looks like the only winning move that would pass the presidential snob meter and make sense athletically.

The other possibility is splitting the invite into a "football only" and non-football membership. That method will lead to the best on the field results by far. Its worth pointing out that "non-football" member Wichita St is not a top 200 national university (230+). So---maybe the presidents don't really practice academic snobbery when it comes to partial members. Or maybe its all BS and they dont care at all if they think they add value. If your willing to split the invite and ignore academics---the AAC could potentially end up with a better overall conference athletic performance in the revenue sports without UConn than with.
ODU is best option
I promise you---NONE OF THE ABOVE!!

This thread is like figuring out the trailer that you found on YouTube is fan-made.

Can we please leave the polling up to AAC fans, so that the options will be based in reality?

“All of the good options probably aren’t interested because I said so, I didn’t include a lot of mediocre options because reasons, and you can’t stay at 11 because it’s an odd number. So....will it be Southern Miss or the Liberty women’s tennis team?”

Bc VCU does not have a football team and a basketball only won't be added
This is an excellent list with many excellent options. I think the AAC should take 3 of them. Well done OP.
