RE: NIT update. (NCAA about 7th out)
I thought if the Tub had stayed, this is where we would be right now. Most likely an NIT invite, but a very outside chance of making the NCAA. The difference is... that is where the Tub would have peaked. He would be losing all of his seniors this year, he had nothing for a recruiting class and most likely would restock with jucos to start the cycle over again.

Tubby would have likely lost more players to transfer (eg. Davenport) and not replaced them with anyone close to the quality of Penny’s recruits. The most probable outcome this season would have been a losing record played in front of 3K diehards.

One thing not mentioned in regards to our predicted finish..... The conference as a whole is tougher than anyone predicted it to be.
Houston is immensely better than expected
Cincy is slightly better than expected
UCF is about what they were expected to be
Temple is better than expected
USF is far better than expected

I will give you Houston...

But Cinci's best win OOC was Ole Miss
Temple's best win OOC was ?
USF's best win OOC was ?
UCF's best win OOC was Alabama

In conference your statement is correct but in college basketball as a whole are they really better than expected?

Lomax was never going to save Tubby's job. In fact, he signed with Wichita State, so he would have helped destroy it.

None of those guys would have brought the fans back...

The fans are who fired Tubby

If there were still 10k butts in the seats at the end of last year he would still be here regardless of recruiting class.

This exactly.....but still, let's win the conference tourney & do even more. 03-wink

I was in no way arguing against that. :)

I think the fact that we entered this year with no teams in the top 25, and we currently have three in the top 25 speaks to exceeding expectations. At least at the top. USF has even made vast improvement in the metrics. The problem is ECU is as bad as we thought, and Tulane is worse.

Cincys overall OOC SOS is weak.... but Xavier and UCLA had a down year.. yes their best win was Ole Miss but they did win the other two..

Temples win at Missouri is actually a quad 1 win.... regardless, they are just a solid team who is in the 50-75 range

As someone said, we have 3 ranked teams, two more solid 50-75ish teams in Temple and Memphis, the middle of the pack are at least challenging teams.. but like any conference we have our doormats in ECU and Tulane

If we win the tournament, I mean when we win, what kind of seed could we get in ncaa tournament?

That would mean some poor 5 seed would lose to us.
