That is all...

Just don't blow it like Middle Tennessee did last year when we made it into the Top 25.

We did the same thing in 2015 thanks to wku. I imagine most of us monarch fans would like to avoid seeing them again.

Now that it's in the rear view mirror, that unidentifiable red thing doesn't seem quite as scary anymore. On the other hand, that roadpecker waiting round the bend up ahead is starting to look kinda spooky.

Both hands on the wheel and pedal to the floor, Monarchs. This time we need to play for the full 40 minutes.

It's actually uncommon for a team to play its best ball for a full 40 minutes. In the vast majority of games, teams go into funks for 2 to 3 minutes at a time, if not longer. You expect funks to happen at some point during most games.

UTSA, in each of the past two years, has gone into funks of 5-6 minutes at a time in games, where the shots just won't fall for us even if we're executing and getting good looks. And funks are definitely more common for teams at our level than they are for the Dukes and North Carolinas of the world, because after all, one of the reasons their players are more highly recruited than most of ours is because they're just more consistent.

You just don't want one of those funks to happen in the closing minutes of a game against a conference opponent playing at home. And the killer for you guys was that in a game where we just weren't really playing well, we finally got hot right at the time that you went cold. Jackson, especially, uncharacteristically lacked his usual intensity and almost seemed to be going through the motions for 3/4 of the game, but he finally erupted like fireworks at just the right time.

That said, believe me when I say I'm probably more nervous about our rematch than you are. That was a painful way to lose a game, and I'm sure your guys will be all the more hungry for it.

RE: ODU receiving top 25 votes
Makes me wonder why when one or more of our coaches do get a vote why they don't vote at least our 1st place team with at least 25th as you know there's coaches from P5 schools (I know, there's no such thing for basketball but you get the point) that votes the 10-12th place SEC or ACC team in the top 25 to help their conference. If nothing else maybe another coach or voter will take notice and give them a vote the following week. Congrats ODU and keep it going

Very low chance of either of those things happening.

Anything's possible. ODU could be ranked next season, but it will be difficult to replace both Caver and Stith. Then again, even if they were, WKU would still have to get matched up with them in order to have an opportunity to defeat them.

RE: ODU receiving top 25 votes
In case anyone's curious, ODU got one vote accounting for both its points — a No. 24 vote from John Feinstein. Feinstein also gave VCU all its poll points (four) by voting them No. 22.

In summation, apparently I'm John Feinstein.

How you gonna rank the skid marks 2 spots ahead of us when we beat them?

We're never losing to WKU again. Ever. In anything.
