3rd quarter? The 270 yds passing that USM had at half was a pretty good predictor in and of itself, imo.

But... you may say typical performance is 50%, and that works statistically if you also way "at worst 50%". Until he's given the chance, you don't know for sure how he may perform.
If Stankavage's strength is game management and he's less than 50% passing with two interceptions, then he is not performing well to his strength.
I would like to see Tyner given a chance in this situation. IMHO, neither QB has performed well enough to expect the coach's to stick with them through poor performances.
I'll also note that as of a few minutes ago, Rice is averaging more per running play than per passing attempt.
OK I will yield... it couldn't hurt...but don't hope for Thursdays Mayfield performance. NO WAY NO HOW
Looking at the stats, Tyner is pretty consistently at 50% +- 2% in each of three seasons. Maybe all you should've done is just concede my "at worst 50%" contention, and stuck to your guns. I don't know, but he just seems like he's got more potential, and I don't see what you've really got to gain by sticking to one QB when it's apparent that you're probably not going to make up a four score deficit without making a significant change.
You always hope that a coach can pull the kind of rabbit out of a hat that Ken Hatfield did in Ruston back in 2002(?)... I give up trying to find the box score, but it was basically 35-0 at halftime, tied 38-38 at the end of regulation after the coaches made a couple of minor adjustments.
Great arm "talent"? I would say arm strength but accuracy is a big problem. He can throw a catchable ball but no extra yards after the catch. Can not extend play, if he moved up into the pocket versus east/west he would be more effective but that is not his nature. No roll out ability
Obviously not a fan of Tyner however if you look he has the ability to run. Maybe he runs looking to throw and doesn’t run out of fear. Sorry man but stank stinks plain and simple
My official take is SS is slightly better than TJ and that is not only my take but the stats support it. That said, neither will get RICE wins...Think Tyrod Taylor but I haven't seen a Baker...maybe a Freshman that doesn't fear failure, think future. With our running game we can groom a younger QB!

Take the $&@$ show Tyner participated in the last 2 years and check those stats. Tyner has potential stank has none. Give Tyner a shot and if he can’t do it then you are a football genius.
