I know for a fact there are water fountains on both sides.

Well then obviously Rice needs to the stop CHARGING for the water fountains! :)

I read an article somewhere that millennials don't like to drink from water fountains. They will fill bottles from them, and drink from the bottles later, but they will not drink from the fountains. Apparently letting the clean water from the fountain sit for a while in one's own used, unwashed bottle seems more sanitary.

Its better than the 'raw water' trend whereby people were paying extra to drink untreated gutter water.

How does UH give out water? Is it bottled or cups or water fountains?

It is a cool zone area that has a large water dispenser for cups or bottles that you may have previously bought.

Cool. Thanks. As cr11 posted above, we have water fountains on both sides. That said, those feel like they were installed when the stadium was built and seem to run while spitting out warm water.

Rice could put some chilled bottle filling stations in. Wouldn't cost a lot of money. Something like this:

Doesn't even need to be that fancy. Just have stations with your standard soda fountain dispensers, like at any number of restaurants, and have water run to it. You can have multiple people filling at a time, whether from a cup or their own bottle.

Many amusement parks have gone to this type of approach over the last few years, letting people get a smallish cup (8 to 12 ounces) and get water from the dispenser, on the hottest/most humid days. While normally they want to make money on selling the bottled water, it cuts down significantly on the number of medical responses needed due to heat illnesses. And it's honestly just a more pleasant experience, when you're going to be outside on a day that most doctors wouldn't normally recommend you spend a lot of time outside.

Agree completely. And I would be curious to see how much money they actually do "lose" by giving it away. The individual line item sales would be less, however, you make it up by other sales and the fact that more people come to the game.

the heat and early start are definitely reasons people avoid going to HRS. Anything we can do to mitigate that would help.

I was sure I remembered a fountain on the home side... so after walking the entire distance of the east side without seeing one... I crossed back over to west to refill a bottle for my wife.

Re: fan experience.. this explains the game result... since we couldn’t get the refreshments right, we accommodated the guests by calling off the defense so at least they could get a W.
