And they called a time out before their first offensive snap. Yikes!

Email sent out today that there will be a DFW watch party at Humperdinks on Greenville in Dallas. This event will be joining the Cougar party already at the same location. (I think I will probably watch at my nearby sports bar as that is a bit of a drive. Also I think the UH scoring celebrations will get old pretty fast.)

Love lost 5 yards on his last run of the first half, ending up with only 7 yards gained in 10 carries.

But two great catches by 6-3 WR by J.J. Arcega-Whiteside on 35- and 38-yard passes gave the Cardinal a 9-7 halftime lead.

I guess the Cardinal miss Coach Bloomgren.

RE: Rice v Houston **PREGAME THREAD**
Been a long, long time, but in the late 50's, U of H played their home games in Rice Stadium. Back then, there were "card displays", that people sitting in certain seats, by row and number, would hold up a certain colored sign in a certain sequence that would spell out a message that would be captured on TV (if games were even on TV) and replayed. The persons sitting in each seat (By row and seat number) had a color stapled to the wooden bench that told them what color to display on what command.

In either 1957 or 1958, a few Rice students figured out that the U of H people stapled the commands to the benches on Wednesday or Thursday. These guys (they were all males) went to HRU and copied each row and seat instruction, then made a duplicate changing the final display to "GO RICE!", and reentering the Stadium, removing the U of H instructions and replacing them with the "GO RICE" ones.

I was not a participant in the "redo", but was told by those who were to go to the game and be on the West Side during halftime. The whole card section presentation went well and was ready for the final build-up and then the "GO RICE" took the air out of the evening.

I have no idea of the opponent or the actual year as I only attended the "show".

Love has been neutralized so far, but Stanford has discovered the pass. San Diego corners are on islands and can't keep up. 24-10 w 3 minutes left in 3rd.

Stanford seems to have discovered a new offensive concept call the forward pass...I think it might catch on.

Costello looks legit. We have been yelling at the TV for at least a year that he should have started in 2017 instead of sitting on the bench.

What I really wanted to see from this game is (1) Consistency on offense, getting in the range of 350 yards with some scoring or scoring threats, and (2) stop UH on offense at least 3-4 times per half. Seeing the decent opposing teams score on every possession over the last couple of years has been a beat-down.

I think this was the closest to actual final result. Congrats.
